☀️ HOT WEATHER WARNING ☀️

This week we are due to have some lovely weather! Please remember the five-second rule: Place the back of your hand on the pavement. If you cannot hold it for five seconds, it's too hot to walk your dog!

Do not let any of your animals be out in the sun for too long even on grass they can suffer from heat stroke too. The best time to walk your dogs is either early morning or later on in the evening. See the fact sheets below for helpful information on how to keep your animals safe in the heat!

⭐️ ** EXCITING NEWS ** ⭐️

Last week we had the pleasure of traveling to Bristol to attend the Best UK Vets award ceremony, hosted by Vet Help Direct.

We are very delighted to announce that we were shortlisted as one of the top 25 vets in the country. From this we then went on to win the Best Vets in Northamptonshire and then we placed second overall for the ‘Best UK Vet 2024’ meaning we came home with the silver award! 🥳

These awards have been achieved by all of the positive reviews that you, our clients, have submitted in the past year, so a huge thank you to you all. They are very much appreciated and we love reading all of your kind reviews and experiences you have had with us.

Along with these awards, this year also marks 150 years since our independent practice opened its doors at 1 London Road, so it really is a double celebration for us all.

The practice may have changed in many ways over the years but it still holds the same values that it has always had – integrity, empathy and an intent to provide the best possible care for our patients and service for our clients.

Weather permitting we will have a cake and coffee morning in the next few weeks, where all clients will be welcome to pop in and celebrate with us, watch out on our page for the date announcement!

❗ XL BULLY NEUTERING ❗

The deadline to neuter XL Bullies, that were 12 months or older on the 31st January, 2024 is approaching. All XL Bullies must be neutered by the 30th June and a proof of neutering certificate attached to the dogs exemption.

To assist our registered clients in getting their dogs neutered in time, we have opened up extra slots on our operating diary for the upcoming weeks. Please call the surgery as soon as possible to book in. Prices are according to weight, our reception team can advise this on request 🐶🐾

Meet Luna 💛🌙

Luna came in to see us last week for her 2nd vaccinations! She was such a good girl and we are sure you will agree she is absolutely adorable!

Fun fact: Labradors love the water! In fact, these dogs were made for the water! Their thick tail (sometimes called an “otter tail”) is used as a powerful rudder, their webbed feet help them swim fast, and their thick, waterproof coats keep them happy even in cold water, like the icy Newfoundland waters where they were first bred.

❗️ IMPORTANT INFORMATION ❗️

The new law has come into force today, which requires any cat over the age of 20 weeks to be microchipped. Owners will have 21 days after today to get their cat chipped or risk being fined 👮

Microchipping is a safe and effective procedure which will significantly increase the chance of reuniting your cat with you if they go missing. If your cat is not microchipped, please call us as soon as possible on 01933 222145 to arrange this. We offer a 30% discount on the cost of microchipping if done at the same time as a vaccine or another procedure 🐱

- Nursing sick animals.
- Taking xray's and carrying out diagnostic tests.

This handsome chap is Patch! 🐾 He has been in with us recently for treatment for a poorly eye, although he definitely seems pretty chilled about it!

Did you know that because of their broad genetic make-up, there is some variance in the breed standard of Jack Russell terriers. In fact, disagreement about leg length has caused the breed to be divided into separate breeds in England, where the longer legged dogs are called Parson Jack Russell terriers and the shorter legged dogs are called simply Jack Russell terriers 🐶

Meet Bella 🎀

Bella is an absolutely beautiful XL Bully. She came in to us this week to be spayed as part of her exemption criteria. She was such a good girl and was rewarded with plenty of Schmacko's!

We understand that presently owning an XL Bully and the legislation surrounding ownership can be very confusing and worrying for some people. Andy at K9 BSL Check has lots of information and advice that he can provide, so please check out his page!
