“Please let me go and play with the big dogs” So fascinating to see how keen Murphy is to be with the horses in a way my other dogs don’t. #dalmatian #carriagedog #barefoothorse
My beautiful, trusted Silver. A true heart horse. ❤️
Super cold here this morning so having a yard all to yourself is a bit of a luxury! #horsetracksystems
The sound of her lovely, solid feet is like magic for me! ❤️🐴🎶
I posted a lovely video (captured by our fabulous livery and helper, Alice) of sleepy horses in one of our bedded barns yesterday. Well if you don’t have huge barns, shelters, hardstanding, etc. I thought I’d show you where our lot were this morning (raining again).💧🐴👍🏻
Impromptu video to send a bit of love, support and respect to any of you who are keeping your horses on a track this winter. I’ve never known it so wet!
Be kind to yourself, you are doing a grand job and your horses are grateful. ❤️🐴❤️🥰
“Oooo….pink things filled with treats and hay…..” “maybe this pile of stationary hay is easier” Clever boy William, go for the path of least resistance ❤️🐴.
Give them a choice and they’ll make up their own mind. It’s invariably the opposite of what a human might have chosen for them. 🐴🌧️💧
Apologies that we have been a bit quiet recently but have been on a social media holiday!
Huge apologies to anyone who has messaged and not received a reply. Please feel free to drop me a message again now we’re back online.
As a little treat I’m sharing this super cute video made by one of my lovely liveries of our herd.
❤️🐎🐴💕
New spaces are always more fun! 🐴❤️
Continuation from previous video…..the other side of our willows. 💕
The first time new horses Mission and Nina have been out on the big track. One of my biggest tips if you’re introducing new horses to a herd is to allow the new horses to explore sections on their own so that they are familiar with their environment and boundaries before they meet their new buddies. The next video follows their canter…..
So excited to open up a new, indoor sand barn for the herd. They’re going to love it. Rest and sleep are so important and it’s our responsibility to ensure the herd have space to achieve relaxation 💕🐴
This old beast has come out of retirement to save the day! #landroverdefender #landrover #oldfaithful #horsetracksystem #horsesofinstagram
Anyone else fascinated by why horses of the same/similar colour group together?
We sometimes see an initial resistance or aggression from an existing herd member if a new member joins but usually a bond follows.
Finally some dry weather. I love opening and shutting different areas throughout the year. It gets the horses moving and interested.
We have adapted our system to cover a large area which is broken up into sections that can be easily opened or closed. I also find this very useful for introducing new horses as I can allow them time on their own to explore each area whilst the main herd are shut off of it. This really helps new horses understand the boundaries and different terrains before any introductions occur.
Giant sandpit on our track system. #tracksystem #horsewelfare #boyswillbeboys
Let me in by the fire please?!
Quick little look around the winter set up here. Pre-poo picking I’m afraid!!💩 Our surfaces are concrete, gravel, stone and sand at the moment.
