my name is sarah (Roberts) Tomkins, i have many years of experience starting on breaking yards at 14years old and worked for Andrew Heffernan and Dave Quigley, i then worked for Ran Arbel for 3yrs as head girl producing top quality young horses and after that went to Westpoint stud to learn AI in the summer and breaking and producing young stock in the winter. after having my daughter i started wo

rking from home doing freelance riding and teaching and progressed to having more horses in at home for schooling, sales and competition and i still love every minute of it. i have competed up to CCI 3*L/ Advanced AND WOULD REALLY LIKE TO PROGRESS FURTHER. I am a holder of the prestigious pc 'A' test and pride myself in working with my horses professionally and in complete harmony, treating each horse to its own, I have found myself taking on many problem horses over the years all of which have settled very well in our environment and made complete turn arounds in their training.

Lovely little reel from Martha Lily Photography in the dark at Radfords on Tuesday night, a very late finish but great to get the ponies out having been earlier with 3 others … 4yo Tabby and I jumped a small class for her first course experience, she was impeccably behaved, my Millie had envy and decided she wanted to jump 8 yo Billie around his first ever course experience also being impeccably behaved and picking up rosettes & Millie C came with us with her own horse mustard also doing his first competitive round and gaining Ribbons 😍 successful & enjoyable evening

Highly recommend the sports mash, not only do the horses love it before and after but from personal experience we have found that horses loose more weight traveling than staying over at a competition so sports mash is great to give pre travel with it water and electrolytes intake it give the horse the best recovery chance pre and post competition

About to catch an hours sleep before evening stables after a very early 3.30am alarm for solihul BE, I went solo and James met me there after dropping the children off as did jacks owners, we had a great day of rather wired dressage tests from both, Jack hasn’t been out in a while after self harming, we had a miscommunication show jumping resulting in a pole but jumped everything else super and then took on a rather full on xc course with a great attitude, I let him down Miss judging the time with all the twists and turns leaving us in 11th place, but Fox jumped a very clean confident double clear for 7th

This morning the alarm went off at 6am to get Tabby and Billie bathed and off to Radfords dressage for their first ever competition, they were both impeccably behaved and produced a good starting block with 65 & 67 %s
Zoomed home for the last hour of Charlie chuckle play with the babies.

Bishop Burton Youth Championships for the Wales and west midlands team, there is little to say but it didn’t go as one would have hoped but it has been a reminder to listen to the horse and not blame the jockey all the while. All will be fine in no time!!!

The pony trial class had its good points especially seeing good friend take the win, a tack malfunction meant Mils pulled Tonto up to correct the situation before then zooming off and making a silly mistake out of the water but Tonts had a great time as did Millie lol
Lots of laughs had, good food eaten and great company all round
Many thanks Helen, jonquil, Sarah team WWM and Toni, Clare and Mimi for your hard work

The boys very much enjoyed being fueled by rowen barbary recovery mash

Before the champs and holiday I took myself to vale view for the regional petplans, not because they were ready but because I want Raff and Foxy to experience as much atmosphere as possible in the dressage arena. We got a little lost and lacked working in time for Raff who then had a melt down about ppl walking to the picnic bench behind his arena, the judge came to say what a shame as first half of test was magic but that’s Raff atm and all I can say is “thank god it wasn’t Paris with ppl hiding behind hedges 😂😂

I then quickly swopped onto Foxy misjudging mine and Danielle’s efficiency to find ourselves having to long to work in with Foxy and just lost her attention but she still performed well and we couldn’t believe the results, just 0. Marks between them Foxy finished In 3rd podium position and Raff 5th, annoyingly very narrowly missing qualification for the final but pleased we made the journey

Sponsors play a huge role with us, their proffessional help and their gifted products

This backpack may not have been to the Olympics but did transport the lorry contents to the stables at the youth championships before heading to Greece with the essentials for a family 5 holiday, I feel like Mary Poppins with the amount of accessories I can fit into this bag and even when it is super heavy it remains really comfortable even on my deformed shoulder lol
Many thanks charlesowenhelmets for creating this must have item

Little 4yo Cove went home today after Mils had a play with him, little super 🌟 3 weeks of school work and he’s come on a treat
Artie came in yesterday and was very chilled in the field today and we have a 4yo arriving tomorrow on holiday schooling livery. Thank god I have a good team helping me out with all the yard duties we also need to find time to do more feild maintenance the fence lines have been taken over by thistles 😨

29/06/2024

Change of plan last minute due to not getting off the WL at Howick with both Millie’s horses so it was a trip to Tushingham instead, the venue has changed alot since I last went and the boys approved with 4/4 double clears with a 🥈 a 4th a 🥉 and win 🥇 in the meter

27/06/2024

Really pleased with Raff and Foxy yesterday, our first BD at Kelsall Hill hill, nice to have a chilled day off the yard with my ponies both scoring over 70% & just out the money but I think and I repeat think “they have their qualifying scores for regionals 🤞🏻

I found myself scrubbing George on Saturday following his fortnight of fitness training whilst Daisy has been finishing exams. I prepped him Trimmed scrubbed and plaited for his appearance at Prom, we were delighted with his condition, in just 2 weeks he looked much fitter and a better shape, the welsh hills and a touch of schooling worked wonders in a short time
Daisy and George looking fabulous

Thursdays are spent well with my babies, a very rare early tea before heading up to do evening yard, gave Millie a jump with Duke and then headed out solo with Que for his first little competition, an 8.40 dressage test 😬
Worth it tho he behaved really well, scored over 71% and came home with his first rossette for Janet Fursier

* We are still quietly looking and incredibly disappointed that the Pony Champs was abandoned so we will now concentrate on the end of the PT season*

Thank you all for your support towards Amelia’s achievements in 2023 your words have made me very emotional (happy tears) every small goal achieved just makes the girl more hungry for more and today all she can talk about is moving up a tier and the pony Europeans, BUT she’s realistic and is aware that selection for this year is 99% not achievable in her first pony trial season and then worries of Tontos age, we didn’t buy an old pony because she needed an old pony we took a gamble on a rehab pony with the very small budget we had and her time patience and care has paid off and maybe if I hadnt been injured and had 2 babies she would be a little further into her journey, but he is now turning 20 although still loving his job, his health will always be Millie’s priority!
Millie is very hopeful of getting to Belsay pony championships in May along with various PT classes and international events in the 2024 season.

So here it is, I am on the plea for help to get a second pony for Amelia’s last two seasons in ponies, even if I sold my 2 feral horses tomorrow I could barely afford said pony so I am hoping someone out there has a diamond in the field/ stable jumping 1m 105m that is brave enough to take on the world which we can produce through the levels fairly swiftly, I have competed upto 3*\advanced so I am able to help.
Maybe a pony you can’t bare to part with / a pony you have bought for your child that needs a little longer to grow into it/ a pony that needs a smaller jockey ?
Amelia is a talented young rider who has reached her achievements fairly soley to this point on ponies and horses but I am back and we are all in.

Equally maybe just maybe people have spare money to syndicate a pony and want to join the journey. Of all times for me to feel out of the eventing loop of who to ask, I really am … all help much appreciated and lots of references would be available.

Evenings like these are priceless, love working the horses on the grass which is finally feeling superb and worth the expensive grass seed we originally put down, it’s taken time but thanks to George for mowing it at the weekend it is now felling great under foot and the horses love it 😍

12/06/2024

Lovely little 4yo Tabitha owned by Liz Morris
had her first trip in the lorry and first session away from home, she was foot perfect and jumped a few small fences to. Successful day 😊

12/06/2024

🥰 so maybe he’s taking time because he’s growing like a bean sprout, he didn’t originally move like this either, I’m so glad Iv never been obsessed or even interested in age classes, this one definately wouldn’t be ready and we have his future at the forefront of his training.Que has recently turned 5 and he just keeps growing and changing, also very lucky that owner breeder Janet Fursier has been patient with our journey so far, time is the essence!

Chillington hall, we went through every hi and low of eventing as a team 😂

Team plant pulled out all the stops including the sun for a fabulous weekend of sport

Saturday foxy went solo with Millie in the 90 for her best dr of the year SUB 40 🙌 unlucky pole SJ and one blip at the corner XC but I didn’t get dragged around by her and she was pretty well behaved so Mils was actually really happy, we do very little training with fox and she’s still super low mileage so all in all not a bad day until my lorry sunk getting out.

Sunday first up Mils had Tontos dr for his first SUB 30 test of the yr at Novice so good start, the ground was riding heavy and the tables were wide but all in all the combinations were straight forward in comparison to her early novices so Mils was keen to get out there, warmed up lovely for SJ his best yet… in she goes and jumps 1,2 … & 7 🙈 big E the kids in disbelief to what she’s just done, shakes herself off and on to Duke, first Novice on a horse but she’s totally chill about it, starts with his worst dr ever because he needed to keep check on the XC warm up next door to his dr arena, judges comment “strong” SJ is now causing its problems as the new ground has started to get tacky but they jumped super just having the last fence down, so now she’s really confident, off they go to XC, Dukes done 2 novices since Covid maybe and he’s never been known as easy but him and mils have a great bond so she’s away & relieved to get the first big tables jumped with ease but it wasn’t meant to be and ground didn’t suit at a simple fence 9 so she retired but came home really confident for next time… dam 🙈

My poor boys had endured their day on the lorry but that didn’t bother them Raff 30dr NO rearing in the show jumping but wobbly legs left all over the poles but he isn’t concider if stopping or being naughty so that’s huge improvement to finish with no wobbles XC and a lovely easy clear

🌟 of the show was ARkan Jack owned by Bill and Judy producing a 33 (tense) dr and lovely double clear for 8th place, huge improvement from Shelford he was almost effortless so I am absolutely thrilled

My team absolutely dug deep running back and too all day for us and I 100% could not do it without them, my owners or my supporters
Thanks you 🙏

28/05/2024

On paper yesterday was a fail, but to me it was far from it. Nearly 2 years later and I was back out there, some stunt rider moves (if waving front legs was part of the question) riding my socks off and getting jumped off 😂 the boys got to a party and I was buzzing until nearly home when I couldn’t contain the yawning. Jacks first BE and Raffs first in 3 years we have a starting point and I have goal to set about, bring on the next 😬 couldn’t have done it without the girls help and support or owners 🥰

Unfortunately Millie’s British pony Championships has been obandoned this week so one gutted child, Tonto jumped insane in her lesson this week and she was feeling very positive 😭 all horses now heading to chillington at the weekend x
