Despite the wet weather Hoovesfest was a hit again this year, everybody smashed it out of the park with keeping up the good vibes, all the live music was amazing, we were all dancing away at our stalls in the dog village 💃🏻

Throughout the 6 week summer holidays I will be hosting a puppy club every Tuesday 7:30pm-8:30pm at Happy hounds Herts daycare centre, starting 23rd July 📅 this will be a pay as you go, so you can book on to as many as you'd like 😁 each session is an hour long and is £15 per pup.
Pups must be under 6 months of age.
Each week we will be focusing on something different. 🐶

A video on capturing behaviour! One of the most beneficial ways of teaching dogs behaviours they are already naturally doing, that a lot of the time we miss!
I hear it a lot from people "I'm not rewarding that because I didn't ask for it" my response is always "why?" If my dog chooses to come back to me off her own back without me saying a word, or walks nicely next to me on or off lead, why wouldn't I want to reward that!? She's offering me behaviours so many people struggle to teach their dogs, if I ignored it she'd eventually stop offering them!
Start rewarding your dogs when they offer behaviours you like!!! ❤️

An awesome end to a great 8 week puppy course ❤️ Ollie the little chihuahua was an extra addition to the last class and made us all chuckle with his spirit and independence 🤣
Well done to all the pups, we did some recall past other dogs and some settled training around public benches before heading off to the pub 🍺
For 2 of them it was their first ever pub trip and both behaved amazingly and very calmly, 6 of us were able to sit and have a drink with 4 puppies all under 6 months old calmly with zero issues!
It was bliss and a great way to spend our last class 🍻 cheers to that ☺️

Some of the dogs I'm training in action, the behaviours in the video are-
🐾leave it- great for teaching the dog to ignore rubbish on the floor, food being dropped on floor, other dogs, other animals, people, and other dogs toys.
🐾chin rest, great for eye drops, teeth cleaning, ear cleaning etc..
🐾 bed/Matt boundary, great for front door work, when visitors first come in, when out in public/pubs.
🐾 hand touch, great for recalls, for refocusing a dog, vet visits, moving a dog past other distractions.
I love seeing all these different breeds working through different behaviours and all excelling in their own ways!
All dogs learn differently and I love figuring out what makes each one tick and what works for each individual dog. 🐾❤️

I want to give a very special recognition to this crazy little boy! 😍
Whizzy is a working cocker spaniel that I've had the pleasure of knowing since he was 12 weeks old!
We have done puppy training, 1:1 training and scent work.
He is now nearly 2 years old and last Thursday he made me and his mum so proud in his scent class! I'd never seen him focus for so long and try so hard! 🥹
I actually wanted to cry with joy! He's such a busy dog and has a fantastic nose but his focus is usually little and often 🤣
It just shows that perseverance and consistency pays off 👏🏻🌟

This is Yenn a gorgeous young Kelpie. Her owners wanted more mental stimulation for Yenn while they are at work, so they got me in to work with her on some scent work which is great for their brains and is super tiring, which is exactly what Yenn needs as a young energetic breed.
This was Yenn's first session with me and she smashed it 😁
In just 45 minutes I was able to go from a full size Kong to a 1cm piece in a tin, to a tiny piece in a vial! 🤯
We worked on pipes and bags, both on the patio and then on grass 👏🏻
Super job Yenn and can't wait to carry on working with you ♥️

Wow we had an amazing walk at Paws Playfield Datchworth today! I would highly recommend checking the place out.
The field is for private hire only, meaning you get the 5.5 acre field and separate woods area all to yourself 😯.
Not only that but there are loads of Christmas props and photo ops for you to get some great pictures of your dogs! 📷 🌲☃️
And on top of that there are so many obstacles, agility equipment, different textures and smells for your dogs to enjoy! 🪵🍂🪴🐕🐾
A private dog walking field is great for so many reason!
🌟Gives reactive dogs (and yourselves) a break from stressful walks.
🌟Gives dogs that can't come off lead that time to run free and enjoy being off leash with room to run!

This duo did a great job throughout the 6 weeks, Sylvie is a rescue Staffy and because of her past she is nervous of other dogs, but her new owner is fantastic with her and we gave her space, and a lot of down time and breaks to decompress. What an amazing team 🐾🌟
Scent work is amazing for nervous/reactive dogs as sniffing is scientifically proven to release happy endorphins and reduces stress and anxiety, think of it as mindfulness for dogs 😌

We are teaching this very special boy how to alert his owner when she is having a high or low in her blood sugar levels as she is a type 1 diabetic.
To start with we are teaching Odin the indication before bringing in the scent. What an absolute star this boy is and such a quick learner! We are using tape for a target starting on the hand and now has moved to nose booping the tape on the leg. 🥰 I'm so proud of Odin's progress 😍
