In summer 2021 our lives changed , we lost the Baby of our family Gemgem, to some they think its just a dog but to many they are much more than that, they are our friend, our family, our child, they are there through everything and they offer you unconditional love till the day they take their last breath.
We decided after trying to have a new addition that it was not the right decision for us, so instead I began looking after other peoples babies while they went away or to an event etc. I then found out I needed a license, insurance and to register as a business so then Shelleys Holiday Home was born. I started trading officially in May 2022. My job can be tough sometimes especially if you have a dog that doesnt like sleeping alone or wont settle in the bedroom and you have to sleep on the sofa with them to allow your other half some sleep for work. Sometimes I want to quit just because of some of the peoples responces or actions but I have hung on and I now have regulars and return customers, but most of all I have new friends and new furbabies 🙂
I am not a great people person in public, I have struggles with Depression and at times but this business has bought me so much joy and pleasure, I am happy and lucky to do something so wonderful. Yes at times it is challenging and there are some expenses I did not expect but it is all part of learning. I love my job, I love my customers and their fur babies. I am just feeling so blessed right now. (feeling abit thoughtful I think) It has been almost a year and I have met some amazing pups and owners, sadly have also heard of some pups going over the rainbow which upset me because I treat them all like my own. I lose money because I choose to solo board so yes at times my cost may seem alot but when you want the best for your furbaby I think it is worth it to have 24hr care, love, cuddles and knowing someone is taking care of your baby, and they are not stuck in a kennel alone most of day.
