Meeting Luna and Plusza, the rescued Ukrainian lions at Natuurhulpcentrum Opglabbeek for the first time ๐ฅบ
Earlier this week, our keepers Gary and Emma made the journey to Belgium to spend some time with Luna and Plusza ๐ฆ
This visit gave our team the chance to meet the lions and engage with the staff at the rescue center. By learning more about their needs and personalities, we can better prepare for their arrival at Five Sisters Zoo and ensure a smooth transition to their new home in Scotland.

๐ ๏ธ Last week, in partnership with Team Building with BITE, we hosted our very first team-building event at Five Sisters Zoo for the fantastic team at Robertson Capital Project. Together, the group of 29 worked on creating climbing and feeding structures for our fossa, Zazu! ๐พ
The team did a phenomenal job completing the half day build, and even Zazu himself gave it his stamp of approval ๐คฉ

๐ฆซ In collaboration with Beaver Trust and NatureScot, Five Sisters Zoo has played a leading role in relocating a record number of beavers in 2023 from conflict areas to sites where they can provide real environmental benefits.
Having expanded our holding facilities, our dedicated team worked with Beaver Trust to provide housing and care for 77 beavers, who underwent health screenings before being released under license at sites across Britain.
The beaver initiative is just one of the conservation partnerships that Five Sisters Zoo actively participates in worldwide. As a proud member of BIAZA, we engage in breeding, habitat restoration, and conservation education programmes on a global scale ๐
