Today is World Food Day!
Did you know food can play a great part in your pets enrichment and brain training as well?!
🐾 Puzzle feeders can be a great way to entertain your pet and improve mental stimulation.
🐾 Slow feeders are perfect for helping hungry pets pace themselves aiding digestion.
🐾 Treat balls, Kongs and snuffle mats are all great options.
🐾 Don’t worry if you don’t have a shop bought type feeder simply wrapping treats in a tea towel tied in knots for dogs or hiding treats around the house can be a brilliant game for your pet and keep them engaged.
🐾 for smaller pets hiding treats around the cage or in a small box of shredded paper or bedding works well.
If you need any advice on your pets nutrition or tips on how to keep them entertained we are always happy to help.
Here’s Fraggle showing us how it’s done with a variety of puzzle and slow feeder options.

🍗 A bland diet is used in case they are feeling slightly nauseous following on from their procedure
🍗 It is also important that we get them eating as soon as possible to end their period of starvation

He visited our East Preston branch a few weeks ago to be castrated and has since gone on to make a speedy recovery.
As you can see from the video, he was keen to eat some chicken as soon as he was awake!
👍With the owner’s permission, we always offer food to our patients as soon as they are adequately recovered from a general anaesthetic or sedation.
👍It can speed up their recovery, helps to prevent low blood glucose levels in very young, elderly or diabetic patients and aids healing.
