Did you know that hens naturally lay fewer eggs in the Autumn/Winter months due to the lack of sunlight? We let nature do its thing, it may mean fewer eggs from our girlies this season but they deserve a lovely rest!

Gorgeous white feathers on our Pekin ducks - they can get as muddy as anything and then straight back to this beautiful plumage! 🪿 They lay large white eggs, similar to the size of goose eggs. 🥚 Perfect for using as you would a hen’s egg or amazing for baking or custards 🍰 Available to buy from us boxed or on trays. Trays are also available for wholesale.

Our girls 🐾🐶🐾 couldn’t resist trying the new doggy biscuits today! Best puppy eyes 🥺😍 at the ready as they sit for a Roast Dinner doggy biscuit! Ruby (springer spaniel) is only ever ‘bribed’ with tennis balls 🎾 but we’re onto a winner with these, she bloom in’ loves them! Available to order from us for delivery this week.

6 years ago Ruby the Springer Spaniel puppy came into our lives & became chief egg collector! 🐾 This is her in the snow with a couple of chickens (Violet & Blossom) at my parent’s house 6 years ago. It was a fantastic Forsham Ark run where she would jump on top of the run and look in the nest boxes to see if there were any eggs for collecting! But beware if you leave a basket of eggs on the floor you’ll find she’s running off playing with one and gobbling it up - I suppose that’s a fair trade for helping with ‘Chicken Duty’! 🐶 Ruby & her 2 border terrier sisters, Maggie & Hattie love to watch the ducks and chickens still at our house but she hasn’t realised that they won’t throw her tennis ball 🎾 back to her yet!

How it all began - 5 little chicks called Snowdrop, Sally, Big Red, Mavis & Mrs Pickles came home from school with me (Sophie’s a teacher)🐥 🐥 🐥 🐥 🐥 Having kept hens before at my childhood home, we began our adventure of keeping hens at our first home together. 🏡 Mrs Pickles is still going strong 5 years later - a cracking age for a hen! So called due to her nature of being a little pickle, enjoying perching on our arms! Unlike commercial settings, our hens are never ‘just a number’. They all have names & are our family pets who live their full lives with us as part of the family. ❤️ Some we have reared from chicks, others we have bought from breeders and the majority we have rescued. Chickens are such little characters and really do have their own little personalities. We’ll perhaps add a little rogue gallery of some of our flock to our page soon 🐔 🦆
