For those who don’t know this is my last litter. They were born last month and are very special. After 20 years I am giving up breeding and keeping rats because it feels like the right time for me. It’s been an amazing experience and thank you to everyone who has had rats from me over the years. I am still here for anyone who still has any Beltanes so feel free to contact me if you have any problems or just need a chat 🥰

Beltane Saxon 10/07/21 - 23/10/23
Some rats are special. So he gets his story.
Saxon was from my first silken litter. Goody x Silkie. Silkie came from Ann and lived with Goody for a while because she didn’t seem to want to get pregnant. Or so I thought. I went into the rat room one day and found a pile of very clean babies that she wanted nothing to do with. I panicked and removed Silkie but she would not go near those kittens. I can only presume that Silkie cleaned and looked after them (what a dad!)
I ended up holding the litter on a towel on my lap and gently encouraging her closer. She flinched when they started feeding. She really didn’t like them much. But after a night of much reassurance she took to them. Saxon was an amazing boy who had a rocky start but was a careful and loving rat. His father’s son in every way. He will be missed. 🖤

They are not the best photos but I’m pleased with these kittens. Most of them have lovely ears and eyes.
