Back home after a 3 week housesitting while Gemma and Callum enjoyed their honeymoon πŸ’ Bernie 🐢 and Bruce 🐱 were the perfect companions πŸ₯°
We ended the housesit by taking Bernie with us to Chard Equestrian for a 3 day show with 3 horses 🐎 - I will do a separate post for this when I get a moment! He was an angel and really enjoyed watching the ponies doing their thing and helping me walk the courses. He would have loved to be more involved in the mucking out, but Tina Hill said no πŸ’©πŸ˜…

I'm working through my admin from the weekend. If you are expecting a message from me and don't get anything by this evening, send me a nudge! πŸ€“

Today, I should have been off to Wales with Misty to catch myself a dragon 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🐲 Unfortunately, the dog I have been housesitting has been unwell this week so I've made the decision to stay home to look after him properly. It just wouldn't have been fair to do a 5 hour round trip and then spend all day at a show with him not feeling 100%. Gutted, but we will try again next year 🀞

I’ve had a few emails from people who have not received running orders for the show tomorrow. I have been having issues with Gmail spamming my emails into the void! Apologies to anyone who has not recieved running orders - I have copied the email below ⬇️

Elf Equine and Canine Steeplechase Show 30th June 2024
Running Orders

Elf Stables, Marlpit Lane, Woodmancote, Hampshire, PO10 8EQ

Below is the ring plan and important competitor notes which MUST be read and understood before you attend

Ring Plan

Class 2 - Steeplechase 2 (L 14, I 10, M18, S 16)
Class 3 - Steeplechase 3 (L 14, I 10, M18, S 16)

There are no strict running orders, just queue up when it is your height to run.

Competitors Notes

Parking
Please check the directions to the show before you leave. The postcode may not bring you to the venue entrance.
Do not arrive before 0830 as there will not be anywhere for you to park and you cannot wait in the road as it is a narrow country lane.
Parking will be tight and you may get blocked in. Park where directed and do not exceed 5mph on site.
Once everyone has arrived the main gate must be shut at all times as there are horses onsite.

Venue Rules
Please follow all rules and signs while you are at our venue. This is a small working equine venue with horses onsite.
Dogs must remain on lead at all times unless in the arena while competing. If you wish to walk your dog off lead there are two footpaths next to the venue.
There is a designated β€˜toilet’ area for your dogs. Keep your dog on lead in this area. Pick up after your dog and do not let your dogs p*e on any of the fencing, buildings or equipment. Please put dog waste in the black bin bags provided.
Only competing dogs are permitted around the yard and arena. Do not tie your dogs to our fencing.
Do not go past any β€˜out of bounds’ signs. There are horses on site which means the electric fence may be live so do not touch it or go past it.
There is a toilet on site which is located just before the stable block. There will also be a toilet on the field by the trees. These will be cleaned regularly throughout the day. Please use the hand sanitiser provided. Soap and water is available on request.
Please help us keep our yard tidy by banging and wiping your feet on the black mats when you leave the arena to remove the sand from your shoes.
There is a water tap in the car park. Please do not use any taps on the yard.

Dog Safety in Hot Vehicles
Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather, please consider the following guidance when planning to attend our event:
1. Please consider whether you will be able to keep your dog cool during the journey to the show; give particular consideration to your travel route and where possible, try to travel during the cooler hours of the day and plan stops along the way.
2. Ensure that your dog has plenty of water available to drink during the journey and whilst at the show, so that your dog stays well hydrated.
3. When at the show, ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk if left in a vehicle in high temperatures.
4. Keep the dog in the shade – take your own shade, for example a large umbrella or gazebo.
5. Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and will be at risk of dehydration or overheating.
Warning: if your dog is found to be at risk, forcible entry to your vehicle may be necessary without liability for any damage caused. Anyone whose dog is entered at our event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise.

There will be a doggy paddling pool available but please be aware wet dogs are not allowed in the sand arena. It is your responsibility to ensure your dog is reasonably dry before you run.

Competition
Judging will commence at 09:30
You may walk Steeplechase 1 on arrival. There will only be one opportunity to walk each course, there will be no walking between heights. Please be ready to run at your appropriate height as we will not be holding the class for people.
Not For Competition runs will have 90 seconds.
Spectators can watch from the field. Please do not allow your dogs to bark or lunge when others are running.

Results and Awards
Results will be presented after each class and will be published within 24 hours on the Elf Equine and Canine page.
Clear round prizes will be available on the day and it is your responsibility to collect these before your leave.
Rosettes and prizes must be collected at the show.

If you are feeling unwell or test positive for COVID please do not attend the show. If you become unwell or test positive for COVID within 7 days of the show please contact the show secretary so that the people you have come into contact with can be informed.

Looking forward to our Steeplechase Show tomorrow 🐢
Arrivals from 0830 and judging from 0930

Please note there is NO SMOKING OR VA**NG anywhere on site!
Can I also remind people to ensure they do not let their dogs toilet or dig in the arena. If your dog does have an accident do not pick up the sand and there is disinfectant available.

We have selection of hot and cold drinks along with crisps, chocolate bars, cakes, muffins and donuts to purchase. This is cash only and change would be appreciated ☺️

The boys were not impressed with the 4am alarm yesterday ⏰️ but it was worth it. They both are running so well but just not quite getting it all together in the ring. Caesar was like a rocket which I couldn't reel in! He is so confident now and nailed both sets of weaves πŸ’ͺ Titus was listening so well but 1 little mistake in both runs cost us. So pleased with his attitude around the rings and near other dogs πŸ₯° Thank you Sian for helping with him ❀️
I can't get over how connected Misty and I am at the moment. Every run makes me smile with her ☺️ She smashed the mini/maxi pairs with Sian and Wesley for double clear and 7th out of 71 pairs πŸ₯³ I messed up her jumping run 3 from home 😭 Make sure your laces are done up tight before you run!! πŸ™ˆ Won the G5-7 agility πŸ₯‡ Judge clapped me clear but the scrime gave me 5 faults πŸ₯² then came 5th in the C6-7 agility, only beaten by grade 7 dogs πŸ₯³πŸ₯³
