Back home after a 3 week housesitting while Gemma and Callum enjoyed their honeymoon π Bernie πΆ and Bruce π± were the perfect companions π₯°
We ended the housesit by taking Bernie with us to Chard Equestrian for a 3 day show with 3 horses π - I will do a separate post for this when I get a moment! He was an angel and really enjoyed watching the ponies doing their thing and helping me walk the courses. He would have loved to be more involved in the mucking out, but Tina Hill said no π©π
I'm working through my admin from the weekend. If you are expecting a message from me and don't get anything by this evening, send me a nudge! π€
Young dog space available with Shannon Springford TOMORROW (22nd) 9-11am due to handler injury
** SOLD**
I have a very last minutes space available TOMORROW to train with Shannon Springford in the grade 2-4 group at 1115-1315
Today, I should have been off to Wales with Misty to catch myself a dragon π΄σ §σ ’σ ·σ ¬σ ³σ Ώπ² Unfortunately, the dog I have been housesitting has been unwell this week so I've made the decision to stay home to look after him properly. It just wouldn't have been fair to do a 5 hour round trip and then spend all day at a show with him not feeling 100%. Gutted, but we will try again next year π€
Fantastic evening teaching a full course precomp training day! It was a bit wetter than forecast but the dogs were all amazing π€©
I still have spaces available for our Full Course Training Day on the 15th July. Please DM for more information or to book.
I may be able to move group timings about a bit so please contact me if you are interested but cannot make timings
Congratulations Anne Green for naming our new cat π₯³ He is called Sid Vicious π±

Competitors Notes
Parking
Please check the directions to the show before you leave. The postcode may not bring you to the venue entrance.
Do not arrive before 0830 as there will not be anywhere for you to park and you cannot wait in the road as it is a narrow country lane.
Parking will be tight and you may get blocked in. Park where directed and do not exceed 5mph on site.
Once everyone has arrived the main gate must be shut at all times as there are horses onsite.
Venue Rules
Please follow all rules and signs while you are at our venue. This is a small working equine venue with horses onsite.
Dogs must remain on lead at all times unless in the arena while competing. If you wish to walk your dog off lead there are two footpaths next to the venue.
There is a designated βtoiletβ area for your dogs. Keep your dog on lead in this area. Pick up after your dog and do not let your dogs p*e on any of the fencing, buildings or equipment. Please put dog waste in the black bin bags provided.
Only competing dogs are permitted around the yard and arena. Do not tie your dogs to our fencing.
Do not go past any βout of boundsβ signs. There are horses on site which means the electric fence may be live so do not touch it or go past it.
There is a toilet on site which is located just before the stable block. There will also be a toilet on the field by the trees. These will be cleaned regularly throughout the day. Please use the hand sanitiser provided. Soap and water is available on request.
Please help us keep our yard tidy by banging and wiping your feet on the black mats when you leave the arena to remove the sand from your shoes.
There is a water tap in the car park. Please do not use any taps on the yard.
Dog Safety in Hot Vehicles
Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather, please consider the following guidance when planning to attend our event:
1. Please consider whether you will be able to keep your dog cool during the journey to the show; give particular consideration to your travel route and where possible, try to travel during the cooler hours of the day and plan stops along the way.
2. Ensure that your dog has plenty of water available to drink during the journey and whilst at the show, so that your dog stays well hydrated.
3. When at the show, ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk if left in a vehicle in high temperatures.
4. Keep the dog in the shade β take your own shade, for example a large umbrella or gazebo.
5. Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and will be at risk of dehydration or overheating.
Warning: if your dog is found to be at risk, forcible entry to your vehicle may be necessary without liability for any damage caused. Anyone whose dog is entered at our event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dogβs health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise.
There will be a doggy paddling pool available but please be aware wet dogs are not allowed in the sand arena. It is your responsibility to ensure your dog is reasonably dry before you run.
Competition
Judging will commence at 09:30
You may walk Steeplechase 1 on arrival. There will only be one opportunity to walk each course, there will be no walking between heights. Please be ready to run at your appropriate height as we will not be holding the class for people.
Not For Competition runs will have 90 seconds.
Spectators can watch from the field. Please do not allow your dogs to bark or lunge when others are running.
Results and Awards
Results will be presented after each class and will be published within 24 hours on the Elf Equine and Canine page.
Clear round prizes will be available on the day and it is your responsibility to collect these before your leave.
Rosettes and prizes must be collected at the show.
If you are feeling unwell or test positive for COVID please do not attend the show. If you become unwell or test positive for COVID within 7 days of the show please contact the show secretary so that the people you have come into contact with can be informed.
Looking forward to our Steeplechase Show tomorrow πΆ
Arrivals from 0830 and judging from 0930
Please note there is NO SMOKING OR VA**NG anywhere on site!
Can I also remind people to ensure they do not let their dogs toilet or dig in the arena. If your dog does have an accident do not pick up the sand and there is disinfectant available.
We have selection of hot and cold drinks along with crisps, chocolate bars, cakes, muffins and donuts to purchase. This is cash only and change would be appreciated βΊοΈ

The boys were not impressed with the 4am alarm yesterday β°οΈ but it was worth it. They both are running so well but just not quite getting it all together in the ring. Caesar was like a rocket which I couldn't reel in! He is so confident now and nailed both sets of weaves πͺ Titus was listening so well but 1 little mistake in both runs cost us. So pleased with his attitude around the rings and near other dogs π₯° Thank you Sian for helping with him β€οΈ
I can't get over how connected Misty and I am at the moment. Every run makes me smile with her βΊοΈ She smashed the mini/maxi pairs with Sian and Wesley for double clear and 7th out of 71 pairs π₯³ I messed up her jumping run 3 from home π Make sure your laces are done up tight before you run!! π Won the G5-7 agility π₯ Judge clapped me clear but the scrime gave me 5 faults π₯² then came 5th in the C6-7 agility, only beaten by grade 7 dogs π₯³π₯³

This weekend was what my mum termed a π©π₯ͺ Saturday we went to FAB KC πΆ My guys struggled so much on the ground and could not keep their footing even on the wider turns. I didn't want to call it quits after their first runs as wanted to see if the ground improved during the day. Misty went on the go slow and had multiple poles (not normal for her!) She did come away with a 2nd in jumping with a pole down. The boys did learn to collect to the ground conditions but found it all very frustrating that they couldn't get it right and Caesar started to shut down on me π Unfortunately, not a venue I will be back to in a hurry depite the great set up π’ Sunday I took the horses jumping at Coombelands π΄ Leo has gone really backwards and is napping so eliminated in the 85cm. He was much the same in the British Novice but I somehow managed to get round with just 1 stop and lots of vocal encouragement π Hopefully we can work out what's going on in his brain at shows as he is a completely different horse at home. Erin stormed the 85cm for a steady clear but had a bit of a hiccup in the 95cm, only getting to number 10..... turned out she needed a wee π«£ Elli was mega for a clear in the 95cm despite my riding. It's so good to have her back to normal again! Video so you can all see my superstar β¨οΈ Yesterday we had Shannon Springford down for a training day in the sunshine π We started a little rocky as the dogs and I were questioning everything due to our competition on Saturday. Shannon sorted us out and they all smashed it in the end. Mistyβs almost perfect agility run from Newlands KC this weekend π She tries so hard for me π₯° Thank you Harmony for filming Itβs been a busy week despite the π§οΈ with lessons as well as training my own dogs and horses. I managed to jump the horses at home early in the week and got Erin and Leo out to Crofton Manor for an arena hire Thursday morning before the heavens opened and everything got rained off. Saturday I popped to Newlands KC show with Misty. She did 2 cracking runs and 1 not so good run ππ but no placings this time. 3 dogs trained, Erin had the farrier, Mulan's new loanee had a lesson π₯° Elli and Leo jumped (Leo under floodlights!), yard and car park tidied and arena harrowed and rolled ready for Sunday π΅βπ« Just got in and grabbing some dinner before I get the lorry ready for jumping tomorrow πͺ #elfequineandcanine #teamelf #hardwork #hardworkpaysoffs #nightsaredrawingin #neverending #yardlife #wouldnthaveitanyotherway
Very late post about Southdowns Agility Club show yesterday. I loved every course I ran π No clears from my team but they were on fire π₯ So happy with the skills Misty showed me on Sunday around some very tricky and full on courses. She had a couple of poles, faffed a couple of weave entries and did 2 very naughty A-frames π she nails them at training! We managed a 2nd in G5-7 agility (10 faults), 2nd G4-7 steeplechase (5 faults) and 3rd G4-5 agility (5 faults) π₯π₯π₯ Titus had a blast π Cannot believe his confidence around agility. He needs more jump commitment and to stop trying to disappear into tunnels but he nailed 12 weaves, twice, in the ring π₯³π₯³π₯³ Caesar was a tunnel monster yesterday. He did some really cool stuff but wasn't 100% focused on me - hormonal teenager.....π Thank you Iain MacDonald for having a look at him after we finished. He has pulled a muscle so on rest for a week π’ Video of Misty's run in Iain Patz's G5-7 agility because the course was awesome and I couldn't feel my legs when I finished. It was far from perfect but so much fun to run! πͺ #elfequineandcanine #teamelf #elfagility #theelfpack #dogagility #southdowns #southdownsagilityclub #gohardorgohome #dogagilitycompetition #dogagilityshow

Anyone else have a horse that can't roll properly...... π€£ Fantastic morning at Petworth Schooling Course with Leo and Kari riding Mulan. I can not praise this venue enough! Perfect variety of fences and levels and the most beautiful views π I think we may make an eventer out of Leo yet πͺhe was so much more confident, looking for the fences and is getter so much stronger (he had to be strong for the hills today π₯΅) Mulan looked after Kari like a pro π Didn't bat an eye when she was pointed at some of the bigger jumps despite only meant to be jumping upto 80cm π I'm now off for a weekend trip to Maidstone, Kent to do something exciting π¬ Full update when I get back π #elfequineandcanine #teamelf #crosscountry #crosscountryschooling #leothelion #petworth #petworthschoolingcourse #teamwork #happyhorses #excitingtimesahead #eventhorse #eventerinthemaking
We had a fantastic time at the Northfest Charity Event on Friday raising money for Havant and East Hants Mind πΆ Thank you Northney Farm Tea Rooms for inviting us to provide your agility demonstration. Popped down to Felbridge for some showjumping yesterday π¦ Thank you Kimberly Ashdown for helping and being super groom π Mulan was really sticky and never really got going till the last 2 fences in the 80cm, resulting in a silly pole. Turns out she needed a wee.......... she had a massive one when we got home........... 25 years old and she still can't go in public π Leo was awesome π€© new venue for him and all he wanted to do was get on with his job. Silly stop at the first fence in the 80cm because he needed a π© and a pole in the 90cm because he was unbalanced off the corner. #elfequineandcanine #teamelf #showjumping #felbridge #felbridgeequestrian #leothelion #showjumper
Ocean - "What do you mean I'm not here to play agility?!?!" Felt like a proper summer day of agility today at UKA Dogs Day Out βοΈ The boys are both getting so much more confidence in the ring πͺ Misty won the senior jumping (only dog but clear) and champion steeplechase π₯π₯ I also ran Bob's Morse in 2 steeplechase courses whilst Bob was judging.
