“6.5 weeks Barefoot! 😍
Casper, Badger and Nova all had the farrier out today for their hoof trims and it’s been almost 7 weeks since Casper had his front shoes off as we are attempting to take him barefoot again (this is the 3rd attempt)!
This is by far the best attempt we’ve had in my opinion and I am feeling VERY confident that it’s going to be 3rd time lucky!! 🤞🏼
Casper’s hooves have chipped and cracked and broken but I’ve just let them do it! It’s all natural, especially on the quartets towards the heel of the hoof, and especially with this ridiculously dry weather we have had!
Casper has remained sound and not been sore at all (been a bit footy on the odd step on a stone but that’s it) so I’ve not worried in the slightest.
If anything, his hooves being left to do what they need to do, in terms of breakage, has allowed them to balance themselves out a bit and function as a hoof should!
A nice trim and tidy up from today and look at them! 😍 For a thoroughbred, Casper is a tough cookie and his hoof horn is surprisingly strong!
As always though, this comes from good, daily care and a hood diet! A horse will never have good hooves on an unbalanced diet - fact!
Casper has the Hoof Supplement in his feed to make sure he is getting all the biotin, vitamins and minerals he needs to encourage healthy hoof growth!
And on his hooves today to help nourish them is the coconut oil hoof balm (which smells INCREDIBLE btw if you’ve never had the pleasure of smelling it!) 💙”
