We are on a go slow...mainly for me this time, my back was still not there and it was raining so we walked instead of riding.
It was lovely.
i cannot believe after 10 years of use this rug is still this good at keeping her covered in showery weather! These two are our all-time favourites:
1. Aussie Allrounder by @horseware
2. Shire's tempest 50g @shires_equestrian
Both look after her, keep her warm and her back muscles dry.
Talking of back muscles as mine were not up for a drizzley ride so we walked. I kept the pace slow mainly to keep her barefoot toes used to various surfaces. One of the downsides for Daisy when she only goes to and from her field, for an extended period of time she get a bit sensitive to stones. Keeping her topped up when we don't ride, helps combat this as we don't use hoof boots.

As you know I live my journal @thehorseorganiser and I keep detailed notes on our year and how we handle things throughout the year.
Daisy’s jabs and her reactions to them are definitely up there. This year I have done them earlier and split them from her dental to reduce the stress to the area being injected, to see if we get a different outcome. I will keep you posted.
She has been having an allergic reaction to her annual jabs so I have planned for this to be her last long ride til she recovers from any reaction.
It was a lovely mooch out on Thursday am, the vet was due in the afternoon and I had taken the day off work.
Blessed with a lovely ride....helping to distract me from the impending appt. I am always a bit nervous when she has it. Keeping everything crossed for no reaction.

It never gets old for me, this moment when life moves on again after a spate of rehab.
There's always that moment, is this it, did I just have my last ride, if I am honest it's why I film so much, it's always there.
So I gratefully got behind those gorgeous ears and went for a stroll with my beautiful girl.
She had such a treat as I was only going to the cow gate, but she loves Texas and we were having a lovely stroll nattering it was the top of the road before I knew it.
Some protestations from Daisy leaving him😂 obsessed she is! 🫣✨🐴 He is gorgeous so I can't blame her, ❤️still got going again😂.
Had a very peaceful Saturday morning poorly before the rain moved in!

We have some new followers so I thought I'd say Hi and introduce myself I am Emma and this is Daisy! I created this journal @thehorseorganiser to help us navigate her arthritis, operations and multiple rehabs later.
I am overjoyed its gone on to help so many others equestrians manage their own life and equestrian year's goals and facing some of the same issues.
The things I have witnessed this past week have been amazing, nothing short of a miracle and so uplifting!✨🐴🙌
It has been so lovely to see people who only know each other online coming together to help others. ❤️ Shows how little things can all add up to something so powerful and supportive.
From our corner of the world, we wanted to say a big thank you for the continued support and this milestone. I love watching this business grow, can't wait to see where these next 6 months take us all together. 2025 @thehorseorganiser planner here we come!

With the sound on you can tell I realised something was different straight away - this was not normal behaviour for my horse. She had dug her bed up, and as soon as she saw me rather than whinnied, she shook her head.😱
I then took her out, and her neighbour was on box rest as she was showing signs of laminates.
That day, she was clicking and Daisy was trying to tell something was wrong. Not your usual either, just very uncomfortable, couldn't and wouldn't settle so I called the owner. Needless to say, she went to hospital. We are hoping she will be home soon🤞💔.
So pretty proud of this one and our partnership right now. ✨🐴❤️

Trust - a very underrated thing nower days with social media and fake news, but to an equestrian and their horse - the world! ✨🐴❤️
How do you build trust with your horse?
For us, we use tarpaulin, it's not a massive piece I saved that for when she was a baby! No we just check in with a tiny bit.
If she follows me over = 100% trust - I ask a question she's listens
Uncomfortable going over it/hesitation, but eventually goes over = work to do.
Flat no - be mindful of your partnership in difficult situations there's work to do.
Make sure you spend some time on the ground, working with scary things be consistent with your words and then transfer the same commands to the saddle.
Repetition and checking in with each other regularly especially if you are tackling new adventures.
Don't wait for a solo hack for it all to unfold and you realise there's work to do, especially if you always ride with others.
Food for thought whilst the rain sets back in.

Today is the day....its finally arrived and I for one am so pleased to say we made it, the winter season is finally over and welcome spring in properly with days off all round and a cheeky lie in for me tomorrow! 🙌✨🐴
I know equestrian life is about the seasons, which I love, however this last one seemed to just be endless! We will probably be in and out for a while yet but with a week of decent weather 🤞 it will all dry up nicely.

It’s not easy being different, but it is rewarding as hell blazing a trail! I really hope I do this post justice, when you take your horse barefoot, it's a journey not a moment and the body keeps score!
My horse in this reel is called Daisy, she is a good doer and arthritic. Movement is key to managing her arthritis and her weight(it's amazing what you can achieve fitness-wise from 10-20 mons hacking most days), anyhoo I digress!😂
So a while back she had the physio who said she was sore through her neck, we correlated this to tugging on a small holed hay net tied upright.
She is barefoot, the best thing we ever did never tracked up shod, the minute the shoes came off tracked up! 😱 felt terrible!
Again another story for another post! Today's is all about how the body keeps score, predominantly the hooves, especially so when barefoot!
So she has an internal flare on both fronts but backs are fine. She is a tad overdue so we have reduced her cycle down again to 2 weeks earlier than last time.
Anyway, she loves her trimmer, see said photo of nail bar Daisy! I don't think she was ever really a fan of hot shoeing, she didn't like the smoke! Again another sign I missed but I was doing what I had always done and until I created this amazing journal which I might add we road-tested for two years before being it out in 2021, I changed how I did things to suit her, not others! 🫣
So I hope this all makes sense. Loving the fact so many of you have joined on your own personal journey because that is what this framework is.....a book of your journey together! Enjoy every minute of it and if you need it keep going you got this!💪❤️

God I am one lucky horse owner....yes she's a diva, spicy, huge, does everything at speed and lives her best life!
Downside is she's arthritic, which she couldn't give a fig about! 🤣 she leaves that for me to worry about!🫣 Tbh I stopped worrying now she's nearly 15 because everything and everyday we have together is precious!
Yesterday we prepared for today, there are lots of ways people who have horses prepare for the physio!
This is how we do it!
I spent the evening reading up on last year's physio pages in my copy of @thehorseorganiser and took videos in case it rain as it was forecast to!
I will post more about today's appointment tomorrow, but for now, let's just appreciate this spicy loon🤣 and more poles!

Yes, this really was our first time trying this🤣 poles haven't been something we do a lot of, so sticking to what we knew and old habits crept in.
I decided it was time for a fresh-on tactic.
This is my most potent time of year to get Daisy to use as much of her winter weight as possible before she goes out for the season!🙌
We always manage to maintain our weight so I thought this year we would try to get her fit in a more targeted way.
I have this all logged in the school exercise section of my copy of @thehorseorganiser main because it was SO SUCCESSFUL, I will be using it again, even blowing it out further.
What we can't do are tight turns at the mo. She has the physio soon so anything I do right now will be good to get advice on how her body is coping.
As you can see I had a quick hack out in a walk and trotted back, then into the school. She did have to halt a few times before going over mainly the long diagonal approaches because she gets excited and wants to trot(it's easier for her). She has to use more energy and tones up better in walk....i know super mean🤣!
Lovely 20 minute session, will be doing it again, thanks to all you grid creators out there for the inspiration to finally take the plunge.
One very happy ponio, she's been getting a bit bored with the go-to stuff, also the first time with Betty next door to school and so chilled! 🙌 win!

Faith....knowing when to push and when to let go, this was the moment I truly appreciated how far we have come!
It was all going on, she was a Diva, I sat calmly as I used to and I smiled and giggled my way through her jogging!
You honestly would not believe she is arthritic, she looked and felt amazing, but I know it was sheer adrenaline from the clip because I know her.
We passed the horses and went into trot to keep her moving forward rather than fizzy over! I couldn't believe how intuitively I rode, like the old confident me, then when we turned onto the track I took the pressure off and came back to walk and she bounced along!
It was 15 minutes, but on the way back I was waiting for the boil over again, but said to myself so what....nothing bad happen 19 minutes ago so deal with it.
We did just that together as a team, reading each other and bonding! ✨🐴
Lovely long stretch on drive.
So proud of us!. If you too have had or are having confidence issues, keep going you got this! 💪❤️it's always worth it in the end.

Planning this is my pre easter thing! When you have a pink-skinned horse getting that last clip in before the weather warms up is essential!
I tend to leave 3mm on just to be on the safe side, but I honestly feel like this is the last of the winter humps over!

☔Who cares?? It's winter just turn them away!
Me that’s who, it’s an equestrian dilemma, especially when they are semi-retired - keeping motivated, can be a struggle with all this bad weather knocking out your routine!
Setting goals and keeping a journal helps manage it. Emotionally and practically….we use it for targeted weight management goals and fitness tracker.
I know there are a gazillion apps, but I like the process of writing it down and it helps to see patterns. It’s all there in front of me, to review and recap then have the previous years to refer to as well! I know our partnership has grown from this kind of tracking, and I now have what I always dreamed of for us. How lucky am I?
After two days of not going to ride ended up riding and smashing our goal! Doesn't seem like a lot to anyone else but for us, it's a biggie!
The longer we can ride the fitter I can get her
= all positive for regulating her weight!
