🐱 Microchipping law for cats 🐱
The new compulsory microchipping law for cats is fast approaching.
In England, from 10th June 2024 all cats will need to be microchipped before they are 20weeks old. Their contact details will need to be stored and kept up to date on a pet microchip database or owners may risk a fine of up to £500
Is your cat microchipped?
✅ Yes
Please ensure that your details are up to date. If you are unsure which database your cats details are stored on we can check their number and let you know.
❌ No
We can implant a microchip during a consultation or if your cat is with us for a procedure.
A microchip is the size of a grain of rice which is implanted under the skin of the scruff- a similar way to giving a vaccination. It is quick and doesn’t require an anaesthetic.
❓Unsure
We can scan your cat to check if they have a microchip
🔎 A microchip also gives the best chance of your pet being identified and reunited to you if they are lost.
☎️ If you would like to book an appointment or for more information please contact the practice on 01934 622022 and speak to one of the team

Accreditation
Green Pastures is a companion animal clinic in the heart of Weston-super-Mare. We are regularly inspected by Royal Veterinary College and we hold RCVS Tier 2 accreditation. We have excellent facilities and equipment and we pride ourselves on our high standards of pet nursing and client care. To support our day to day services, unlike most veterinary practices, we provide a well- equipped 24-hour veterinary emergency service with on-site nursing care.
Accolades
Over the years we have received many accolades and endorsements. Green Pastures has been awarded Pet Plan’s ‘Practice of the Year’ when the judge’s comments were ‘This practice best delivers the spirit and ethos of a modern veterinary practice.’ Kathy Barcham was Pet Plan’s ‘Veterinary Employer of the year 2008’ following nominations by our team.
Our most recent accreditation has been our Gold FAB Award – we are one of only 158 veterinary practices in the UK to achieve this award which demonstrates that we understand the unique needs of cats and have made veterinary visits friendlier. We have also shown that we have excellent equipment needed to investigate and treat feline disease and that we have a high standard of facilities and care for hospitalised cat patients.
