🍁 5 Autumn Safety Tips Every Dog Parent Should Know 🍁

As the leaves fall and the air gets crisp, our dogs are just as excited for the season as we are! But while autumn is a time for cozy walks and pumpkin-flavored everything, it also comes with a few hidden hazards. Here’s how to keep your pup safe this autumn:

1. Watch out for toxic plants and mushrooms.
Many wild mushrooms and certain plants that pop up in damp, fall weather can be toxic to dogs. Keep your pup on-leash in wooded or grassy areas and steer clear of unknown growths.

2. Leaf piles aren’t always safe.
They may look like the perfect playground, but wet leaves can hide sharp sticks, mold, or even ticks. Always supervise your dog if they’re exploring leaf piles.

3. Be mindful of cooler temps.
As mornings and evenings get colder, short-haired or senior dogs may need an extra layer. Sweaters and jackets aren’t just cute—they keep your pup comfy and safe.

4. Halloween hazards are real.
From dropped candy to spooky decorations, Halloween brings plenty of temptations for curious pups. Keep chocolate, sugar-free treats, and costume accessories well out of reach.

5. Stick to pup-safe pumpkin.
Pumpkin is a great source of fiber and nutrients—but only if it’s plain and unspiced. Avoid pumpkin pie filling or anything with added sugar or nutmeg.
