Without conditioner you leave the coat open to damage, pollutants and staining. With you grow a stronger healthier coat over time. 💜 Reggie 💜 Reggie had his first clip, he’s been coming to me since he was a baby to be hand stripped but after some medical issues and medication for his Addisons disease his coat has not been growing back fully and he is lacking undercoat so became very patchy, so we decided to go to clipping for a smoother more even finish. Hand stripping isn’t always suitable for all dogs even though they are breeds that traditionally should be hand stripped certain factors can change the texture of the coat and make stripping very difficult such health issue and neutering. It is also important to factor in the individual dog’s tolerance levels and wether it is in the animals best interests to be hand stripped. Some are aggressive with the grooming process or they find it painful even when done correctly, some dog’s coats become softer due to outside factors such as natural breakage from an active life. Some clients are not happy and also leave if I suggest their dog should no longer be stripped but I believe we have to be the dog’s advocate and always be honest about what is most suitable for their individual needs. Milo’s second puppy groom 💜 Regular grooming sessions every few weeks after your puppy is fully vaccinated are so important, the younger they experience new things like the grooming process the more likely they are to settle in to the process. Every puppy is different and the process should be tailored to their individual needs, Please listen to your groomers recommendations on how often they need to visit and work on any sections of the grooming they maybe struggling with at home also, I like to give homework on each session. Getting your dog use to the grooming process is equally an at home experience as it is in the salon so if you are getting a new puppy that requires grooming be prepared to visit the salon regularly and to put in the work brushing and desensitizing at home too, A good dog is a partnership between owner, groomer, vet and trainer and is essential for a well rounded, happy dog in later life. 🐾
