I run Paws and Whiskers from my home in Wheathampstead, Hertfordshire. It is a warm, clean, fun, family environment where your dog will be treated like one of our own with love, fun and regular exercise. Paws and Whiskers (PAWS) holds a full insurance to cover all aspects of pet services. The advantage of boarding through PAWS is that your dog will get lots of love and attention so as to make thei

r stay as relaxed as possible, allowing you to enjoy your time away. I have two children, Molly (11) and Andrew (10) as well as a 4 year old rescue Jack Russel called Marley. There are also the two ponies, Boycee and Micky. I have always loved animals, had animals, and worked with animals. Growing up we had dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and fish! Once i left school I went on to take my HND in Horse Studies and Business Management. Once qualified, I pursued a career within the horse industry until I had my children. As Molly and Andrew got older I decided that I wanted to go back to working with animals. This led me to start working for a friend who had their own Pet Services company. When they moved away I took the brave step of starting up on my own and have never looked back. My 4 legged guests get to take full advantage of the beautiful walks that go on for miles, just behind my house. When they are not exploring the countryside, they can explore my big dog proof garden or do a spot of sunbathing. When the nights start drawing in, they can curl up in front of the dog proof open fire. New guests are also welcome to come and have a sniff and see where they will be staying. Owners welcome to come and look too! This way your pet gets to meet me and vice versa before any stay is booked

It’s been a sad couple of days as I lost one of the Paws mob.
Yesterday this gorgeous boy got his wings and he will be leaving a big hole to fill in both size and personality!
Lots of love goes to his owners who entrusted me with his care for many years!

This is worth reading considering the weather that is coming.

When considering walking your dog in cold weather, there’s a pretty simple rule to live by – if it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for your dog.

But like humans, every dog is different. Where some dogs seem to be made for snow and wet weather, others can struggle in even the slightest of chills. The vet experts at Joii have given some guidelines to help you decide if you should brave the elements or stay in the warmth.

Just looking at the temperature on the thermometer (or if you’re like us, on your phone’s weather app) isn’t enough, you also need to take into account wind chill, wet conditions (rain or damp ground) and how sunny the day is. If in doubt, keep your walk short or skip it all together if your dog can toilet in the garden instead.

It’s arrived ……. Had my renewal inspection on Monday and am happy to say that I have maintained my standards and been awarded the maximum which is the 3year 5🌟licence.
Thank you to all my clients, family and friends that have had to put up with me moaning and stressing ….. just 3 years and you get to do it all again with me 😂

The lovely M was booked in for morning walk. We saw squirrels, fields of buttercups and horses. Oh and of course she found a stick. 🐾🐾

Our own dogs ‘Aunty’ has come to stay! Needless to say she has settled and is happy 🐾🐾😃 It’s lovely to have our Ralph’s family members here as there are a lot of things that they both do. Lovely to see the similar traits.
