With Storm Darragh on the way tonight, all those that own cats and dogs, horses and other outdoor animals, might want to check gates, fences, walls, doors and anything else that you use to secure your beloved pets.

Winds are predicted to reach 70mph here in the north east and you can bet your pet life on it, there will be 'found dog' or 'missing cat' posts all over socials tomorrow! This wind can cause your pet to loose its sense of smell and become disorientated meaning if they do escape, they can't find their way home.

Most importantly, should that happen, are your pets microchip details registered to your name, address and contact number? If not, it's so hard for your pet to get home safe if the wardens pick them up or vets scan them and the numbers not right.

Be pet safe. Be pet smart.

A big welcome to the PHG family to Florin and Tuppence, two beautiful guinea pigs that I had the pleasure of looking after recently. They are both young, so a little nervous, but growing in confidence as there lovely owners handle them and hand feed them regularly. And they make the most delightful "week" noises when they hear you chopping up their food!

I have recently finished a very special job, looking after 3 beautiful birds, 2 cockatiels and a budgie, for 3 weeks whilst their family were away. Two visits a day meant that I was able to to let them fly free all day and put them to bed each night. Initially they (and me!) were a little unsure, but as you can see, we soon became very fond of each other. Daily updates including photos and some videos kept their owners happy that they were fine. What a wonderful job I have!
