Have you ever met a cat with FIV? 🐱

FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. It is a viral infection that affects cats and causes them to have a lower immune system compared to cats without it. FIV doesn’t transmit to humans or other species and is cat specific.

Luckily FIV can only be passed on to other cats via deep bite wounds and therefore that is why cats with this virus have to live either in a house with no other cats OR with cats that also have the virus. Cats with FIV should be strictly an indoor cat as access to the outdoors risks the transmission to other cats.

I recently cared for Phil who has FIV. Just by looking at him you’d never know. He loved nothing more than sitting on my lap, watching the birds on Cat TV and on the seeds outside the window or rolling around on the floor whilst I brushed him 🥰

👋 My name is Jen and I am the owner of The Cat Companion. I launched the business in March 2023 with the goal of giving like-minded cat owners peace of mind that their cat will be well taken care of when spending time away from home.

🐱 I visit your cat (or cats if you’re like me and have more than 1 😅) in the comfort of their own home. We all know that cats are creatures of habit and much prefer to stay within their own environment alongside their home comforts. This also helps to ensure as much of a stress free time as possible with the added bonus of keeping to a regular schedule and routine.

🐱 Whether your cat is shy and anxious or confident and friendly, I am here to help. All visits include: washing all bowls each time, replenishing bowls with food and water, cleaning food mats/area, medication if required, brushing if required and much more. I can also make your home look lived in by turning on and off lights, popping on the TV/radio, taking your bins out and back in, closing and opening blinds. I’m also very happy to water house plants 🪴

🐱 I also have a FREE app for you to access to get notifications on my arrival to your house, detailed visit reports including pictures and videos, the option to view, download and pay your invoices and request your own bookings.

🎓 I have a degree in Animal Science, DBS Checks, Pet Sitter Insurance, Pet First Aid Certification and I am soon to be enrolling onto a Higher Diploma level 5 for Feline Behaviour.

She’s a Star ⭐

How adorable is Lucas with his little heart coloured nose ❤️
The second picture makes it look like he has a little halo on his head 😇

Lucas has a very soft and beautiful soul. His owners said when they rescued him the rescue centre said no one wanted to rehome him and he was always overlooked which made them want him even more. I don’t blame them, look him him 🥹

He loves “helping” me wash up his bowls by jumping up to the sink to get stuck in and wanting kisses on his head.

Can you spot the funny photo? 😅

I managed to capture Lulu doing her ‘I’ll scent your hand whilst my mouth is open’ manoeuvre. The mouth opens for Lulu when she’s really going hard on the scenting 😻

These pictures were taken over the few days that I got to visit precious Lulu (or should I say HRH Lulu 👑). I hadn’t seen her for a few months and had really missed her. We slipped back into our routine as though no time had passed 🥹

Rehoming Cat Post. Please Share 🐈‍⬛

My clients are trying to find a home for their elderly sister’s cat called Sooty. These are very sad circumstances and I would like to be able to help alleviate some of their stress by helping as much as I can.

*Sooty is 14 years old with no known health conditions.
*He is a little shy with new people until he gets to know them.
*He’s been living a very quiet life with his elderly owner and therefore likely wouldn’t suit a home with young children.
*He is mainly a house cat who sometimes ventures out of an evening.

I am yet to find out if he is neutered (I should imagine he is)

After not seeing Pebbles and Simba for a couple of months it was lovely to spend some time with them again recently 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

They are both so comical and LOVE to play. They aren't much older than a year so they still have a LOT of energy and really enjoy a good run around.

Oh Theo, I will miss our visits! 💓 I recently had the longest booked service so far and it was such a lovely one. All of the videos attached to this Reel (there were a lot more that I couldn't fit in 😅) were ones sent to his owner. 📸 Pictures and videos for EVERY single visit are (I believe) crucial. Not only because you very likely miss your cat but because it's reassurance that they are receiving the care needed and promised. Theo and I had "brushbrush" time every day. It was vital that I carried on his routine, especially with it being something he loved. I did shed a tear on my last visit with him. Who can blame me? Hoovering a cat was a first for me!😮 I never thought I'd say that... If hadn't seen it myself in person at the Meet & Greet I wouldn't have believed it! As well as her medication daily, being hoovered was also on the agenda! 😮 This is the beautiful KK (KupKake) and she is partial to being hoovered! Infact when I was hoovering around the litter trays for her and her brother she made a bee-line for me.
