The Tarka Sanctuary

The Tarka Sanctuary We're raising money to build a dog rehoming centre like no other. Every dog deserves that.

Everyone has a dream of what they would do if they won the lottery, new car, new house, exotic holidays etc. My dream has always been to open my own rescue centre where I could rehabilitate the dogs that came into my care and find them their own home where they would be safe and loved.

We are looking for a new home for this gorgeous boy.
Hercules is a 1 year old Doberman. We are looking ideally for someone experienced with this breed. He is great fun but is extremely boisterous/wired (we can help with this as he just needs the right routines in place). Hercules needs training (we can help with this also) and although he has lived with another dog and young children he is very lively so to give him the best chance we are looking for a dog/child free home. He is very food motivated which will make training him so much easier.
We would ideally need someone that is retired or maybe works from home so he isn't left home alone for long periods of time. If you think that you could offer him a home then please get in touch.

We need your help once again. We will soon be looking for a home for this lovely little girl. This is Flo and she is a four year old Frenchie X Boston. Flo recently came into our care due to her previous owner struggling with her. She hadn't been walked properly for years and was struggling with the young child in the home that she was in. We are fostering her whilst we find her forever home. Julie and Dave (her foster carers) have been working so hard to make this girl feel more confident and settled.

In the week that we have had her she has come on leaps and bounds and we are starting to see her confidence grow and her character come out. She now happily goes out for walks and enjoys being outside. She is scared of men initially but with patience can adapt as she has with Dave and other men that she has been introduced to. The biggest thing we need to deal with is her fear of dogs. Obviously as she wasn't walked properly, she hasn't been socialised. Despite previously living with a dog she really doesn't know what to do when she sees one and just screams (best way to describe it) which can be embarrassing but there is no malice in her. This is slowly getting better but will take time. Flo has adapted well to Julie and Dave’s little Frenchie.

Flo also has some separation anxiety issues as she used to sleep in her owners bedroom and there was always someone at home. Julie and Dave have also worked really hard on this and she is much improved already, she now sleeps in the kitchen overnight happily.

We will be looking for a child free (possibly older children would be considered) and probably pet free home so that Flo can feel as relaxed as possible in her new home. This little girl is going to be an absolutely amazing dog. She loves her walks, loves cuddles and loves to play ball etc.

If you feel that your home would be suitable for Flo and you have the time to commit to training and developing her (with our help) then please get in touch.

We ask for you all to share this post and help us find that perfect home. Lets find Flo her happy ever after.
