🥳🏡HOMING UPDATE🏡🥳

No better way to kick off National Greyhound Week than a homing update! 💙

Lucky boy Sherlock, who attended GreyFest at the beginning of this month, headed off on Sunday with his new family including new sister Meg who is showing him the ropes of this retirement malarkey!

Sherlock won the heart of his new Mum when she met him at GreyFest…turns out that show was literally life changing for him!

Sherlock is a loving and friendly chap, who wins everyone’s heart so it was an emotional rehoming on Sunday but happy tears for sure!

We will miss you Sherlock, but know you’re going to have a wonderful life with your new family 💙

Some of you may remember one of our long stay boys, News. Ashwells kindly offered him a space after he had been waiting over a year and it didn’t take long for one of their volunteers to fall in love with him!

Now known as Teddy, we are so happy and grateful that this boy is now in his forever home and enjoying his retirement!

Big thank you to Ashwells and to Teddy’s new family!

We have Teddy’s brother, Phoenix, with us awaiting his forever home too!

Sorry we haven’t posted much recently…we haven’t been snoozing on the job like this boy, we promise!

We’ve been very busy in the background with various different things going on but we’ve got some new retired hounds to introduce you all too soon! Just need to co-ordinate getting their photos and small dog testing done but we’ll be introducing them to you as soon as we can!

Gorgeous Bullet has moved to Ashwells to continue the search for his forever home!

MEET BULLET!

Bullet is a stunning cat-trainable greyhound🐈‍⬛ with amazing amber eyes! Yes, you heard right - A CAT-TRAINABLE GREYHOUND ‼️

This handsome chap is 4 years old and has a stunning snowflake coat. He is a happy-go-lucky greyhound who has quickly become a real hit with all our volunteers💙

Bullet is gentle and calm and adores people🧑‍🤝‍🧑 He has met children and is sweet and respectful. He also gets on wonderfully with his kennel girlfriend.

Bullet has been introduced to small dogs and has shown little interest. We can not guarantee that any greyhound is cat-friendly, but this boy certainly has the potential to be very cat-trainable 🐈

Recap on 💙LUKE💙

Luke will be 6 years old in October and we would absolutely love to get him a home soon so he can celebrate his next birthday in style!

Luke came with us to GreyFest last week and was a superstar! He was great with everyone he met, he loves a cuddle and a lean - he was great with the children he met too!

Other breeds, big and little were met with no adverse reaction - the smaller breeds perplexed him slightly and he was a little wary but not in a dramatic way, he just backed away!

Luke loves his food and is a bigger than average boy, but he was polite! Despite it being his first ever experience of the outside world, with lots of sights and smells and new experiences, Luke was better than we could have ever imagined! Excitable initially but walked beautifully on the lead throughout!

Luke got a lot of interest at the show, but sadly he still hasn’t had any visits yet!

If you’re looking for a handsome gentleman to join your family, Luke could be the one for you! So don’t hesitate in dropping us a message!

The gorgeous little Titch was with us before moving to Ashwells - we are so surprised she hasn’t yet found her forever home! She’s a young bundle of fun and only teeny tiny but she’ll give you so many laughs!

Possibly one of the best bits about GreyFest (Sighthound Event Kent 3rd & 4th of August 2024) for us was reuniting with Mendi!

Mendi was with us for his racing days and bagged his forever home with the most wonderful family, including greyhound sister Ava, in April this year!

Mendi was a kennel favourite and across the weekend 4 of our kennelhands made the trip to GreyFest in Kent to reunite with Mendi!

Our dogs are loved when racing and into retirement and it fills our hearts with joy to know that they go to the best homes for their retirement!

Thank you to Mendi’s family for providing us with the photos and allowing us to share them too - what a wonderful weekend it has been! 🥰

GreyFest (Sighthound Event Kent 3rd & 4th of August 2024) for our Burton Lodge Boys!

What a fabulous time Luke and Sherlock at at GreyFest today! Both boys were having their 1st ever experience outside of kennel life and absolutely smashed it! Both very excitable when we arrived but settle down beautifully and we couldn’t be prouder!

They mingled with people, children, dogs, music and everything GreyFest had to offer!
Both found, and loved the concept of human food and dog treats 😂 Sherlock even mastered a sit for a bit of hotdog, whilst Luke got to grips with “hotdog bobbing”!

Sherlock won 2 rosettes, best black - 1st place 🥳 and most handsome dog - 2nd place!

Both boys got lots of attention so hopefully we may have some enquiries about them soon 🤞🤞

Shiny boy Baliff met little Frenchie Ollie yesterday! Wow, he did amazing!

Baliff is a very happy boy, who gets excited about life so we weren’t sure how he would be as he’s never met any other breeds before! These hounds always seem to surprise us - he was fantastic!

Initially Baliff was very bouncy, wanting to play but he soon settled down and the boys had a sniff of each other and then had a nice walk alongside each other!
Whilst Baliff was bouncy, he showed no aggression towards Ollie but just very playful and excited to have a new friend!

This boy is a little bit bonkers 🙈😂 but in an endearing way! He can be strong on the lead initially but is learning to settle.
He will be a lot of fun for the right home

🐶CHASE🐶

Chase is a handsome black boy who will turn 4 in September and he is now looking for his forever home!

Chase is a loving lad who likes a good ear scratch! He loves to explore and would happily suit an active home where he can have adventures and cuddles a plenty! Chase would prefer to be the only dog in the household.

We haven’t introduced Chase to any other breeds yet, but he walks nicely on the lead.

Stunning, white and black boy Luke will be 6 years old in October and is looking for his forever home where he put his paws up in his retirement!

Luke is a happy soul, who likes a cuddle and a lean! He is sweet natured and loves people, so should suit most homes.

He hasn’t been small dog tested yet, but we hope to do this in the near future so watch this space!

7 weeks ago these boys (Ronnie and Troy) jumped in the car, donned their “I Need A Home” bibs and went on a jolly good day out to Romford Retired Greyhounds greyhound gathering! Little did we (or they) know that that car journey, and those bibs, would change their life!

Both were fortunate to meet, and win the hearts, of their forever families at that show! Now, just 7 weeks after their 1st ever car journey and 1st ever outing they are tucking up for the night in their new homes with the best families we could ask for!

Thank you Romford Retired Greyhounds for letting us bring them to your show and a massive Thank You to their forever families!

We are so happy for these boys…and are so proud of how they’ve won the hearts of their families! 🥰💙💙

Can we do it again with our next adventure? We’ll certainly keep trying!

💙BULLET💙

Here we have Bullet (number 2), our snowflake black boy who turns 5 in August! He is a handsome boy, with the most gorgeous amber eyes and such a gentleman of a dog. He has a sweet and calm nature, who is a happy chap and adores people.

Due to Bullets temperament we had an idea he may be cat workable and he has been successfully introduced to small breeds and cats, showing little interest. We have attached some photos taken during his small dog testing and cat testing…you’ll even notice a chicken in the background too! 😂

This boy is beautiful inside and out, our photos don’t really do him justice! He was so good with the small breeds and cats that we even let a small human give him a walk passed the cats and small breeds and not once did he pull on the lead 😍.

🐶 other breeds…no problem!
🐱 workable (it’s hard to guarantee any greyhound as “cat friendly”) !
🚗 travelled like a dream
👶🏻 homes with children will be considered with this boy

So, this boy is looking for his forever home and ticks so many boxes - we just know he has potential to be a wonderful companion! Hopefully it won’t be long before he’s snapped up!

🏡HOMING UPDATE🏡

Our gorgeous, kennel favourite, 💙RONNIE💙 has landed on his paws and found himself the most wonderful family! After spending a few days at home with his family, yesterday he was officially rehomed! 🥳

We are so happy for this boy and just know he’s going to have a wonderful life with his lovely new family, including greyhound girlfriend Peggy who is showing him the ropes!

Be happy Ron Ron, we will miss you but are so happy for you 🥰

Barker is our happy chappy boy who has been waiting 365 days for his forever home 😢
Whilst he is his usual happy self with us, full of character and his tail is always wagging, we would love to see him embracing his retirement and enjoying life outside of kennels.

Barker has the makings of being a wonderful family pet, he is very friendly and has been socialised with other breeds where he did very well - walking nicely with no reaction!

🙏🤞SPECIAL APPEAL🤞🙏

These 4 Black Beauties all have a couple of things in common…
🖤They’re all black
🖤They’ve all been waiting a minimum of 12 months for either their forever home, or even just a homing centre space 💔

💚 HUSTLER retired May 2023, he will be 4 years old in September. He is great with people and is kennelled nicely with a girlie, however his small dog test showed us that he will need some more work with other breeds

❤️ CHEZZA retired in June 2023 and has just turned 3 years old! He is a complete love bug and adores people, especially giving kisses!

💚BARKER retired in June 2023 and will be 5 years old in October. This boy ticks so many boxes, he is a friendly and confident boy who is great with people. He absolutely aced his small dog test and has been around children with no issues seen!
💛WILDCAT retired in June 2023 and is 4.5 years old. He is also a really friendly boy, who loves to lean! Gets on well with his girlfriend and walks nicely. He has been introduced to small dogs and was strongly interested, so this will need a little work but his reaction showed he will be easy to work with given the right time and socialisation.

We really need some help in sharing these boys! Our followers have done a great job with our last couple of special appeals for Victor and Blake…let’s see if you can work your magic again 🙏🤞

❤️‍🔥PHOENIX❤️‍🔥

Little man Phoenix is our 5.5 year old boy who has just recently retired from racing and is now looking for his forever home.
He is only a little lad, weighing 30kg, so if you’re looking for a smaller lad look no further!

Phoenix will be neutered in the near future and will then be ready to embark on the next chapter with his forever family.
He is a stunning little man, pictured here in his younger days, he does have a greying chin now but he is a sweetheart who loves affection and walks lovely on the lead.

He fancies himself as a bit of a ladies man, so if we have any solo female hounds looking for a companion we’re sure Phoenix would volunteer himself as a candidate 🥰

For those of you who have followed us for a little while, you will remember our nervous boy News, now rehomed as Teddy (and thriving in his wonderful home!)…Phoenix is Teddys brother! 💙

💚SID💚 wanted to disturb your feed to let you know that he didn’t feel his original photos showed his handsome looks…so here is a (very) close up just to show his gorgeous face to those who may have scrolled past him before!😍

Sid also had a little visitor on Sunday, as Olly the Frenchie paid us a visit to small dog test some of our hounds! Sid had a wonderful time walking up the lane! He didn’t even bat an eye when Olly made his way under his back legs to have a sniff…suppose we can’t blame Olly really - there’s a bit of a difference in leg length to make up for 😂😂.

Happy Sunday Post!

Our hearts are so full! 2 of our wonderful boys reserved with us, Hero recently moved to Ashwells but has been reserved today following a viewing with us last weekend - and Amigo went home today with one of his racing owners! We are so happy for these boys 💙💙💙💙!

Thank you all for sharing our posts and following our page - it’s great to have some boys getting their chance at home life! We can’t wait to see these boys happy and settled soon 🤞

✳️SID✳️

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sid…not to be mistaken with our brindle boy “Syd” who we introduced a couple of weeks ago!

Sid is a stunning blue brindle boy who is bound to turn heads wherever he goes with his gorgeous looks! This photo doesn’t do him justice with how gorgeous he is!

Sid is a 3.5 year old boy who is neutered and now looking for his retirement home. He is a lovely calm boy, who is average size for a boy at around 33-34kg. However he is not at all bolshy with it, walking nicely on the lead and enjoying cuddles! He plays nicely with his girlfriend and has always gotten on well with his girlfriends when kennelled as a pair, so he would transition well into being a second hound in the home.
