It’s become a miserable day today 🌧️ so here is a video of one of our group walks to brighten your day! 🤩

Buddy, Stan, Lottie and Ronnie all love spending their time together socialising and being stimulated both mentally and physically 👌🏻

This video is also great to show how dogs communicate & set boundaries as shown by Ronnie vocalising to buddy when he has the stick. This is often mistaken for a dog being ‘aggressive’ or ‘nasty’ but they are just simply communicating and setting boundaries.

As seen Ronnie is more than happy to let Buddy have the stick when he gets to it first. Stan on the other hand… well Stan is just cheeky Stan 🤣. Lottie absolutely loves chasing the other dogs trying to keep up with them (even with her little legs)

We wouldn’t have them any other way 💙

🐕 Let’s talk about motivation and rewards for dogs 🐕

All dogs are different.
I don’t mean just breeds and colours but their personalities are also different.

This means you could have 2 dogs of the same breed but either one could be motivated and stimulated by entirely different things.

Motivation is usually based on what stimulates the dog most, examples are:

Prey drive 🐇🐿️🐑
Praise (affection) drive 🤗🥰
Toy drive 🎾⚽️🪢
Food drive 🍖🥩🥓

When training any dog you first want to find what motivates them in order to reward them for their good behaviours. Some dogs don’t get stimulated by any of the above which makes it harder to influence their behaviours. This is where compulsion techniques are favoured.

Food is the most common and easy reward to use, followed by Toys then Praise.

If you’re struggling to motivate your dog outside try using the reward only in those environments, for example:
If your dog loves food in the house try not to overly reward them unless they do something you really like or want to see more of, save it for outside. This way I may help develop their motivation more.

You can also give them set meal times instead of leaving their food down all day. This sometimes causes dogs to get complacent with food which decreases its value & reward factor.

For any help you need feel free to contact us. 😁

🦮 Yesterday I was walking one of my long time customers.

A women approaching in the opposite direction spotted my dog off lead and nervously asked:

“Can you put that dog on a lead”

At first I was taken back and a little offended but I replied:

“Yes Ofcourse, are you scared of dogs?”

The women replied :

“Yes, I’m absolutely terrified of dogs.”

Naturally for us as dog owners/lovers it’s hard for us to understand other people who don’t share the same views, values & passion for dogs.

As human beings and RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERS we HAVE to RESPECT that some people may not want our dogs running over or being near them & this is ok, everyone is different.

This same ideology should be considered when another dog owner kindly asks you to put your dog on a lead -

Not all dogs want to play, socialise or be jumped all over. This doesn’t mean they are dangerous or aggressive it simply means that they enjoy their own personal space and don’t appreciate boisterous dogs annoying them. This is ok. Some dogs might be in training or nervous around other more excitable dogs. This too is ok.

Just because your dog is friendly it doesn’t mean they have the right to run around doing what they want and jumping all over other people & dogs. In terms of dog behaviour this is actually very rude behaviour and usually leads to incidents happening that can be easily avoided.

As RESPONSIBLE dog owners we have a duty to understand our individual dog and be CONSIDERATE to other people & dogs.

If you’re out walking your dog off lead and see someone approaching with a dog on lead. Please don’t wait until the last second, recall your dog and put them on a lead and then ask if they can say hello.

Please always be RESPECTFUL, CONSIDERATE & RESPONSIBLE when it comes to having your dog out in public spaces. 💙

Check out these happy hounds 😁

We had a very exciting morning, integrating Buddy (the Labrador on the far right) into this group walk, ready for when his owners go away on holiday.

They can be rest assured that Buddy will have the time of his life with his new friends (Lottie and Stan) whilst they kick back and relax. 👌🏻

It’s always lovely to see dogs get along so well for the first time 💙

Keep your eyes peeled for videos of this happy bunch living their best life 🤩

Well it’s been a busy week so far but we wouldn’t have it any other way 👌🏻

Here’s a little progress update on Molly 🤩

Molly’s handlers have been doing an amazing job on maintaining her training. We’ve been working on tightening up the heel and creating more structure through verbal commands.

It’s so amazing to see a transformation like this and give the dogs and their handlers a far better quality of life 👌🏻

⚠️Just a reminder to keep your dogs safe in this heat.⚠️

This is a rough guide for your dogs & all dogs are affected in different ways. Always be cautious on warm days and take in to consideration:

Age
Breed
Colour
Weight
Temperament

Do your best to avoid being in direct sunlight and if you are outside - keep to cool, shaded areas with a water source nearby that is close to home.

Hello everyone!

It’s important to be aware of the weather and how it can affect your dogs. ☀️🥵

Every breed & individual dog suffers differently to others but he’s a basic guide to follow.

During warm weather try to keep your dogs in as much shade as possible, ideally with a water source near by.
Try to reduce the amount of running they do as they can overheat quite quickly. If you can - take them to walks closer to home or better still, try tire them out with mental stimulation at home.

If you notice a change in their demeanour, take them straight home & contact a Vet for guidance if you’re concerned about their health. 💙

Happy Friday everyone! 🤩

Just a reminder to keep your dogs safe in the warm weather ☀️

Dogs can’t regulate their internal body temperature the same as us humans can, which means they are more susceptible to heat exhaustion, even if us humans don’t think it’s that warm.

Here’s Milo on a calm, cool, loose lead Maintenance Walk through Borsdane Woods where there is plenty shade and a water source near by 🌥️

This handsome boy has come a long way in his training and now has regular maintenance walks to keep the consistency going 🤩👌🏻

A huge well done to Milo and his owners for putting in the work with the little time they have 👏🏻

It was Molly’s 1st lead control session today 🤩

This 18 month old girl did exceptionally well this morning. She’s very excitable and energetic so for her to behave this well on her very 1st session was outstanding.

We’ve still got a bit of work to do going forward but the future is bright for Molly and all her handlers.

Consistency, persistence & patience are key to maintain good behaviours.

Well done Molly, we’ll look forward to working with you again on Monday 😁

Wow the sunshine is beautiful!!

This is our Barney sunbathing in the lovely sun today. I hope all your doggy's have been relaxing in the sun safely.
Mental enrichment is the best way to keep your dog entertained in this heat rather than physical exercise! Barney has been relaxing all day 💗

We love seeing any dogs catching some rays so if you took any snaps of them in the sun post them below so we can all see 👀😍

Look at this group walk of doggies just having the most fun time!!

Group walks are a really great tool to socialize your dogs in a sensible and responsible way. They will learn boundaries and learn so much from the other dogs they go with.

As you can see from the video they will also have lots of balls to chase and be having the most fun we can cram into 1 hour!!

There is nothing better than knowing your dog is having fun, making friends and learning new things while you are busy.

We have lots of availability so do pop us a message to get booked in. Be quick!
