Our Barney’s human daddy Joe is currently battling stage 4 oesophageal cancer, with the love and support of his friends and family and the incredible staff at The Christie’s hospital in Manchester.

It is with much sadness that I write this post, today we have had to say farewell and a very sad goodbye to one of my pack and best buddies Moss. Moss was a beautiful ten year old Blue Merle Boarder Collie who I have walked every week for over seven years. Out of the blue last week after a couple of inconspicuous ailments and a vet visit Moss was diagnosed with secondary stage cancer, he was still fighting fit and showed hardly any signs of being ill, I walked the big guy last Friday and other than a colouration change to his eyes he was his usual energetic self, unfortunately a few days later the cancer had spread to his eyes and over the course of a morning Moss went completely blind, there wasn’t anything that could be done for Moss as the cancer had spread too far and unfortunately the kindest thing to do was for him to be put to sleep.

What can I say about my mate Moss….Moss was a very special character who I had the privilege to walk for over seven years, he had his strange little ways, some might say he was possibly on the spectrum and maybe ‘a little bit weird’ in the nicest possible way lol but aren’t we all! and when you got to know him and his quirky ways you could only grow to love him, he himself was very loving, very intelligent and always had a big smile on his face, his owner Anne would tell me he would know what days I was turning up for him way before I did turn up and always sat waiting for me by the window and when he saw me he would go nuts around the house barking in excitement, he was literally by my side more than most as his recall wasn’t very good, as I’d found out on several occasions over the years lol with him leading me on a merry dance on more than one occasion, so he had to be lead walked all the time, that never bothered Moss he always stood tall and proud with his head held high as if to say “I’m not bothered that you lot are off lead, I’m stood with the Leader” and that always made me feel special and proud because Moss was a majestic beast with those beautiful piercing blue eyes and that lovely long blue/white coat, he certainly turned heads when out on a walk and I always felt very proud to have him by my side.
He will be very sorely missed by myself and Emma, his owner Anne and all her family and I’m sure the rest of the pack who knew him, especially the Tuesday and Friday crews.

We pass on all our love and sympathies at this sad time to Anne, Ivy and the family.

Well it’s that time of year folks when the suitcases 🧳 🧳 get a dusting off and we plan our summer holidays.

Don’t forget guys it’s not just dogs we look after here at Leader of the Pack we also offer Small Pet Visits; If you are going away, whether it is just for the day, overnight or a holiday I can pop in and care for your rabbit, hamster, chicken, cat, reptile, fish or any other variety of small pet. I will come to your house and ensure food and water is provided for, litter boxes/hutches are cleaned and still have time for a quick cuddle or play. You can determine the amount of visits needed in a day and your pet can have a stress free time while you are away. I can also carry out house duties such as plant watering, post collecting and pulling curtains. I am fully insured, D.B.S checked and can provide references if required.

It’s been a very mixed bag weather wise this week, we have had some lovely sunshine earlier in the week and for the past three days we have taken a good old soaking 🌞🌧️ but it’s not stopped us getting out and about 🐶
