Surprise! 🎉 Meet the two newest additions to the family! Mother and son rescues, Jazzy and Oreo! Jazzy (left) is around 10yrs old and is a black domestic shorthair but she has a little white patch on her chest! Oreo (right) is around 8yrs old and is a black and white domestic shorthair!

Last but by no means least, a big introduction post, our final four, siblings Addie, Loki, Caleb and Apollo! We adopted the 4 siblings in August 2022 after they had no luck finding a home! Addie (Far left & Photo 2) is the only girl in the litter and then we have the boys Loki (Bottom right & Photo 3), Caleb (Top right & Photo 4) and Apollo (Middle & Photo 5). It was definitely a big decision to adopt all 4 of them but we didn't want to split them up and now, we wouldn't have it any other way! Addie and Apollo are both black and white domestic shorthairs whilst Loki and Caleb are both plain black domestic shorthairs. They will all be turning 2 in a few weeks.

Up fourth, our Dobbie cat! We adopted Dobbie (Photo 1) in April 2022 with his friend Koko (Photo 2). Unfortunately, in September 2022, Koko went in for surgery for a fractured hip and suffered two major heart attacks and didn't make it through. He was only 20 months old but it was discovered that he had an underlying, undetectable heart condition that usually proves fatal between 6-18 months old. Dobbie is a little trouble maker but we love him all the same! I like to say he looks like the bats from hotel transylvania (Photo 3)!! Dobbie is a black domestic short hair and will be turning 3 later on this year.

Third on the list, Maisie and Mimi! We adopted Maisie (Left + photo 2) and Mimi, or as I call her, Titch (Right + photo 3), in August 2022. They are a mother and daughter duo who only have a 6 month age gap. They were found abandoned when Maisie was around 6 months old and Titch was about 6 weeks old and unfortunately, Titch had lost her tail, however, she doesn't let it get in the way of anything, especially bossing the others around! We also found out that Maisie is epileptic after witnessing a couple of very scary seizures so, she is now on medication. They are both tabby cats, Maisie is nearly 3 and Titch will be 3 nearer the end of the year!

Today is St Gertrude of Nivelles Day, the patron saint of something we all love... CATS!

St Gertrude was born in 628CE as the daughter of Pepin I of Landen. When she was ten years old, the discussion of marriage came up. St Gertrude vowed that she would marry no man and would instead pursue a life within the Church. After the death of Pepin, she moved to Nivelles with her mum and together they founded the Abbey of Nivelles. For years she served as Abbess of the nunnery, dedicated to helping the sick, elderly and poor.

So where do the cats come into this? That's the real question after all. Well although she didn't have a cat, she was known for her expertise in hunting down rats and mice. Whenever people had to clear out an infestation of rats in their homes, they would call upon her to clear them out. Much of the iconography about Gertrude often features groups of rats surrounding her or in the background. Her reputation as a banisher of rats rose during the 15th century when the Black Plague was rampaging across Europe. In the 1980s, this image of Gertrude as a rat banisher evolved into her being seen as a protector of cats.

So celebrate this day of festivities by drinking a pint of Guinness and petting your favourite cat!

Second up to be introduced, my boy Pepper! I adopted Pepper (Left) in 2015 at 8 weeks old with his brother Toby (Right). Unfortunately just over two years ago we lost Toby to a car accident. Pepper is a 8yr old black domestic short-hair who likes his naps and his cuddles!

Thought I'd introduce my 9 babies!
To start with, this is Aleksei! He's a 13yr old siberian red tabby who me and my family adopted back in May 2022! He's a big baby who loves his cuddles! He's also 99% floof!!
