It is with great sadness that two dogs from separate families and times have become the victims of the dreaded Alabama Rot. Both dogs had been Moreton Ford and both became infected. Personally I would avoid that area whilst we have such unpredictable wet weather. Be mindful to wash off your dogs paws and tummy’s if you have been somewhere wet and soggy as it lives in the mud and is spreading. 🐾🧡🐾 A Heartfelt Farewell from Woof Wagon Dog Walking & Pet Care Services🐾🧡🐾

Dear friends and fur-family,

After many wonderful walks, countless wagging tails, and endless adventures, I’ve made the difficult decision to close my dog walking service as of Friday the 14th June. This journey has been filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments, and I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude.

To all the incredible dogs who have been my loyal companions, thank you for the boundless energy, love, and happiness you’ve brought into my life. From our morning strolls to our afternoon playtimes, every moment spent with you has been a treasure.

To the amazing owners who have trusted me with their beloved pets, your support and confidence have meant the world to me. It’s been an honor to be a part of your dogs' lives and to witness their growth, playfulness, and unique personalities.

While I’m closing this chapter, the memories we've made together will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m excited for the new adventures ahead and hope to stay connected with this wonderful community.

Thank you for the love, trust, and countless paw-sitive experiences. Stay pawsome and keep those tails wagging!

Gorgeous walks out with these beautiful souls over the last 3 days.
We’ve been to Ashington, Cannon Hill, Ferndown Plantation, Lake Pier, Ferndown Woods. Every walks a different walk and no two days are the same. Keeping it interesting and varied for our doggies.

What are we waiting for?… Well just out of frame is an elderly man in his mobility scooter and two dogs following. So we wait off to the side away from the path to let him go by with out any concern. These dogs are now very used to waiting for hazards or potential risks pass by and I have trained them from the moment they join my walks to do this and focus on me, learning to be steady and calm 😁

With the concern in the rise of Alabama rot cases and due to the extraordinary walking conditions this is something that I am very mindful of and why at the end of each walk your beloved pets have their belly’s and legs washed; not only due to a number being mud monsters I walk but also to remove any potential harm.

I have on board the Woof Wagon™️ two showers 🚿 and extra clean water 💦 to given them a much needed freshen up.

ALABAMA ROT (cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy)

This is a rare but potenially fatal disease in dogs. It can cause damage to the skin and kidneys by blocking and damaging the blood vessels. This can show as sores or ulcers typically on legs, face and feet.
It appears to be more common in the winter months, particularly between November and May in dogs walked in muddy, woodland areas.
Sadly, the cause is still unknown which makes giving advice on its prevention difficult.
The current advice is to wash your dog down after a muddy walk paying particular attention to face, legs, feet and belly.
Check your dog regularly for any skin lesions (not caused by trauma) and also watch for signs of kidney problems: being tired, off food, vomiting and a change in how much they wee. Remember these symptoms could be caused by a number of other things but if you are worried at all, contact your vet.
