It's that time of year where firework displays will commonly happen. We have put a list together of ways to help minimise stress and worry throughout these times for our furry friends 🐶🐱

- Use a calming pheromone spray or diffuser such as adaptil or feliway.

- Use distractions such as toys or a treat.

- Use the TV or radio to help relax your animals.
Classic FM has a specific show for pets during the fireworks.

- Close all windows and curtains to help muffle noise and light

- Bring your cats in early and take early walks with your dogs.

If you have any concerns with the upcoming fireworks and your pets please feel free to get in touch and we are happy to discuss any worries you may have.

So glad this little one is on the mend ❤️

Fred came to us as an emergency last month from Medivet. Fred was admitted to have a CT scan which confirmed IVDD (intervertebral disc disease) and he required surgery that afternoon. Phil performed a hemilaminectomy and Fred made an excellent recovery! The day after surgery he was keen to explore the garden on his gentle walks and was taking treats from us all. We are so pleased Fred's recovery is going well and we are looking forward to seeing his progress at his recheck appointment in a couple of weeks.

Sadly IVDD is common, particularly in dachshunds. If you are concerned about your pet or notice any symptoms including; back or neck pain, inability to stand, trouble walking, knuckling or shaking please contact your vet practice as soon as possible.

This handsome chap, Bailey😍, came in two weeks ago for his castration. Such a sweet happy little lad.

He's been back in over the last week for his post operation check ups and of course plenty of cuddles. He's now been signed off and can get back to causing all sorts of chaos with his big sister Coco ❤️

Did you brush your dog’s teeth today?

You can help prevent dental problems and oral disease in your dog by brushing their teeth daily – with dog friendly toothpaste, providing the right diet, and seeing your vet regularly for check-ups.

Do you know how to spot blue-green algae?

Exposure to blue-green algae can cause long-term health problems in pets and can even be fatal. By drinking from or swimming in contaminated water, pets are at a high risk of becoming seriously ill.

Contact your vet immediately if you think your pet is at risk of blue-green algae poisoning. For more information of what to look out for and how to protect your pet, read our advice article here: https://bit.ly/3LqTmA4
