I am pleased to announce I have completed all my SMS saddle fitting training 🎉

I had a lovely few days up at molten college with the society of master saddlers, with lots of knowledgable lecturers getting me through the final stage of my training, awaiting assessment.

Meet the fury team behind GS Saddle fitting 🐾🐴

Moon - moon is my 4yr old Connemara pony currently stranded at 15.2hh, he came over from Ireland last October and has fitted straight into the family despite his very bad baby brain. He’s having a slow start to his ridden life due to a few steps missed in his education before I got him, he loves hacking round the fields on a sunny day ☀️.

Winnie - Winnie is my 1 yr old dachshund who has a massive attitude on her and will let everyone know she’s here. Winnie loves getting her nose into everything especially when I’m busy in the workshop, you may also hopefully see her on some yard visits once she’s a bit older 🤞.

Willow- willow is my parents Labrador who loves meeting new people, she’s the perfect office dog for admin days!

A great 2 weeks work experience at fitted saddles ltd. I was lucky enough to be taken on by a master saddler who has taught me a lot of things and really helped me get prepared early for my exams later on in the year !!

I’ve learnt to do a range of things like stitching, stripping a saddle completely down to the tree and how to re flock a saddle. I also got to go out in the van to customers yards which was nice to see all the different issues that can occur when saddle fitting.

I now have a quite few months until October when I have my flocking course/ exam and my qualified saddle fit course 🤞

A great day Hartpury completing The Society of Master Saddlers introduction to saddle fitting course, with lots of things to come away with !! This includes things like, the points of fit for a saddle, horses conformation, the way a rider influences the horses way of going and tree construction/ flocking.

Next steps to the journey are completing a flocking course and a saddle fitter qualification course 🤞 all by October.
