Lottie and I are excited to announce that a major milestone has been reached at K9 Cuts Kingsworthy.

Thank you to all of my dogs who have made this milestone possible and make each of my working days so much fun. I am truly blessed to have tremendous dogs and wonderful owners who bring you to me for a haircut.

My regular dogs will know that I am a little OCD about writing schedules! And yes, I have created our 2022 diary of provisional dates. I have started to share these, If you haven't received yours please don't worry, you will receive them soon.

The MILESTONE is - K9 Cuts Kingsworthy has reached capacity.

This means that I am not registering any new dogs at the current time. This is to ensure that I can give quality time to my dogs and their parents and my dogs continue to enjoy coming to me for their pamper sessions.

If you would like to join my club, I do have a waiting list, please contact me if you wish to be added to my list and I will happily discuss this with you.

The Prime Minister’s announcement on 22nd February set out the steps to relax the rules surrounding coronavirus restrictions with target dates for each step.

Great News!

As part of the Step 1B (target, but no earlier than 29th March)
Groomers may undertake all grooming by appointment.

This means that I am now allowed to welcome my short haired dogs who come for a bath, de-shed and super pamper.

Very excited to announce the next phase in relaxing the rules.
Take care and stay safe.
All the best
Sue

UPDATE 16th JANUARY 2021

Virus transmission is high and DEFRA have now announced revised and strengthened wording relevant to dog grooming.

Whilst the guidance aims to allow grooming of dogs to continue to deal with welfare issues, the current climate means that it is NOT BUSINESS AS USUAL. The intention behind this revised wording is to limit the movement of people and ensure that we only leave our homes when essential.

I would like all parents of my dogs who are booked for a haircut during the coming days to consider whether a haircut is nice to have or ESSENTIAL to prevent matting and excessive knotting that can cause pain and unnecessary distress.

Please find below a brushing guide - please do review and follow this guide.

The parents of my dogs know that I contact you the week before your visit. During this lockdown I will ask you to consider whether your dog is just having a bad hair day (just like me) or knowing your dog as you do whether a groom during this lockdown is justified.

If you have any concerns or questions please do not hesitate to phone or text me and we can discuss to identify the best approach.

Dear All

UPDATE 12 JANUARY 2021
I would like to provide a further update to the guidance regarding grooming dogs during this lockdown period.

- Groomers may accept a dog to be groomed by appointment where this is necessary for the animal’s welfare and not simply for aesthetic reasons. Welfare reasons could include on veterinary advice for a skin condition or excessive matting causing the pet discomfort. When routine grooming can be delayed without affecting the pet’s welfare until the national lockdown is eased it should be put off.

During this National Lockdown I will be focusing on my hairy dogs to prevent any welfare issue developing. If you have a hairy dog with an appointment, I plan on keeping this date.
If you feel that your dog can wait for a haircut please just let me know and we can reschedule any appointment.
If your dog is not hairy and booked in for a wash and de-shed, please anticipate that I will delay this date but will contact you individually.

On arrival please read my social distancing policy on my gate, please do observe this to ensure we all remain safe.

Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
All the best
Sue

Dear All

I would like to provide an update to reassure all of my dogs that pet grooming can continue during this period of lockdown in England.
They current rules states: Animal grooming facilities may also stay open but must only be used for the purposes of the animal’s welfare (and not for aesthetic purposes).

I contracted Covid during the Christmas break and am grateful that my family and I seem to be on the road to recovery.

I have delayed opening until 12th January, in the meantime please keep on brushing your dogs daily and keeping them knot free.

During Lockdown I will be focusing on my hairy dogs to prevent any welfare issue developing and so if you have a hairy dog with an appointment after 12th January, I plan on keeping this date.
If your dog is not hairy and booked in for a wash and de-shed, please anticipate that I will delay this date but will contact you individually.

I have updated my social distancing policy on my gate, please do observe this to ensure we all remain safe.

Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
All the best
Sue

The Government website has been updated to include a reference to pet grooming during this second period of lockdown in England. It states: Animal grooming facilities may also stay open but must only be used for the purposes of the animal’s welfare (and not for aesthetic purposes).

The Pet Industry Federation (PIF) believes that professional pet grooming is essential for a pet’s health and welfare and provides many health benefits which may not be immediately obvious. It is not undertaken for aesthetic purposes, which the dictionary defines as: concerned with beauty or the appreciation of beauty.

Regular visits to a professional salon are a fundamental part of a pet’s routine care and wellbeing and help keep the coat clean and free from knots and matts, and in so doing help prevent more serious welfare issues building up.

Pet grooming fulfils many functions and professional pet groomers have an important role to play in maintaining pet health and welfare:
I would like to reassure all of my dogs that I am remaining open during this time.
I have updated my social distancing policy on my gate, please do observe this to ensure we all remain safe.
Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
All the best

Further updates have now been received from the Pet Industry Federation - The Canine & Feline Sector Group (CFSG) has produced a document for pet businesses and local authorities about how they can operate safely and legally during the Covid-19 outbreak. The document has been developed in conjunction with DEFRA and is subject to any later changes from Government relating to the emergency restrictions.

A journey by car made by a pet owner to the grooming salon is therefore not considered essential, and is not permissible. However, it is permissible for businesses to travel as part of their work and so mobile groomers may operate, as can salons when they can collect dogs from individual households to take back to the salon. This is as per the DEFRA-approved guidelines established by the Canine and Feline Sector Group earlier in April.

A client may walk their dog to be groomed as part of the client’s daily exercise. Once the dog has been groomed either the dog may be walked home or the groomer may return the dog. Only one dog may be groomed at a time and the premises disinfected in between.

My social distancing policy is on my gate- The wording is detailed below for your information:

Covid-19 Outbreak handover and sanitising PROTOCOL

1. Read this notice on my gate upon arrival.

1. Please sanitise your hands before opening the 1st gate.
2. Attach the collar to your dog.
3. Sanitise your hands again before opening the gate to leave.

Please leave the gate open and I will disinfect this when you have left.

The single most important action we can all take in fighting coronavirus is to stay at home in order to protect the NHS and save lives.

Following recent Government revisions to the guidelines The Pet Industry Federation believes that unless exempted, businesses should close in order to keep themselves and their customers safe from the Covid-19 virus.

I am now ceasing grooming for the time-being.

I will continue to review their website daily and when I am able to Groom again I will be in touch.

Stay home and stay safe.

Today, Milo tested my social distancing policy - Thank you Milo.
We feel this safety protocol addresses all social distancing requirements and will not pose a risk to the owner, dog nor myself nor my family.

The following information has been taken from the Pet Industry Federations PIF/BDGA Advice on Pet Grooming during Covid-19 Outbreak
http://www.petcare.org.uk/index.php/latest-coronavirus-news/2089-pifbdga-advice-on-pet-grooming

It is believed that dog grooming at this time may still be safely undertaken.
Despite the Covid-19 outbreak, many pets still need to be groomed on welfare grounds.
I am open but will limit this to dogs with coats that if grooming is delayed it could be detrimental to their health.

I will ask all owners to adhere to the following strict protocol when bringing your dog to me.

1. Read the notice on my gate upon arrival.
2. Take your dog through the open gate.
3. Use the hand sanitiser provided before touching and closing the gate.
3. Remove your dogs lead and collar and hang on the gate, (I will disinfect these when you have left)
4. Leave your dog in the area between the 1st and 2nd gates. I will be at the second gate but distancing from you.
5. Sanitise your hands again before touching the gate to leave the area.

I will then collect your dog and take to the studio for a haircut.

I will adopt the following measures

1. All surfaces, floors, seats and door handles will be disinfected between each groom.
2. It is possible that the covid-19 can sit on a dog's coat, so disposable gloves and mask will be worn for the initial intake and handling of your dog prior to bathing.
3. I will bath your dog thoroughly prior to any grooming procedure.
4. I will groom a maximum of 2 dogs a day to ensure that I have time to deep clean my studio and myself before and after each dog.
5. I have a 1 to 1 policy but will ensure that you spend as little time out of your homes by keeping in close contact with you. This will ensure I am ready for you on your arrival.
I will then contact you when your dog is ready to be collected and will place your dog between the gates upon your arrival.

You are to then to:
1. Please sanitise your hands before opening the 1st gate.
2. Attach your dogs collar.
3. Sanitise your hands again before opening the gate to leave.
Leave the gate open and I will disinfect this when you have left.

This protocol will be printed and placed on my gate.

This protocol has been discussed with Public Health England on 25 March 2020 and it has been agreed that it adheres to PHE and Government Guidelines regarding Covid-19 lockdown guidelines.

Please adhere to the Government guidance on staying at home and away from others.
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/full-guidance-on-staying-at-home-and-away-from-others

Please stay safe and I will be in contact with all of my dogs with appointments very soon.

What a difference a couple of months make.....Wesley a crazy but nervous young pup joined my puppy plan in November. Today he had his first adult groom, he showed confidence with bathing to blow drying and clipping. He didn't have a issue with his feet and legs being played with and only mild curiosity when having his nails clipped. Well done Wesley! What a STAR. Below some pictures showing Wesley following his visit today and his journey from the start of his pup plan through to the beginning of his visit today
Finally Wesley didn't need to be restrained on the table at all. He and I really enjoyed his time in the K9cutskingsworthy studio today. https://www.k9cutskingsworthy.co.uk/

HAPPY NEW YEAR from K9cutsKingsworthy. What an exciting start to 2020 with Marli graduating from puppy club and Millie, just 5 months old coping beautifully with her first groom. Well done my puppies!!
Two adult beauties Gabby and Eric have joined us this week. Eric leapt on the table for his haircut and Gabby assisted by her mum and dad was deshed on the floor of the studio.
One thing all of my dogs have in common is that NONE of them are restrained on the table.
I work with and at the dogs pace.
Totally stress free grooming at K9cutsKingsworthy.

Bear's journey with K9CutsKingsworthy

Bear joined my K9 Cuts club in March 2019. At this time he was full in the face with a seed magnet for a coat.

As Bear's coat is fast growing and very thick we developed a Bear Care Plan to cut his accommodate this and his lifestyle.
Within 5 months Bear now has a more stylish face and a neat body, tight feet and legs. Seeds and sticky buds are less of an issue and he enjoys his visit to K9cutsKingsworthy.

The slide show has pictures before Bear's first visit, third and fifth visits. The final two slides present a review from Bear's parents and a picture of him chilling.
