Separation anxiety is a common behavioural problem in dogs. 🐶

The best way to tackle it is to seek veterinary help early to avoid serious complications.

Trying to make your dog associate being alone with good things, such as new toys or delicious treats can be part of the strategy to fight separation anxiety. These should be removed as soon as you get home, though, so your dog understands they only get them when they’re home alone.

Have you had to deal with separation anxiety before? Let us know about your experience in the comments.

There are a lot of cats in associations looking for lovely and responsible owners, with CVs as good as the one Mr. Whiskers (a fictional cat) has.

If you’ve already adopted a cat, we’re so happy for you! What do you think your cat’s CV would say? 👇

Unfortunately, cats are often prone to urinary problems, one of which is feline idiopathic cystitis. Idiopathic means that this condition has no identifiable cause, but we find it more common in young to middle-aged cats. 🐈

Medical treatment can help reduce the frequency and improve clinical signs, thus relieving your cat's discomfort.

But the main thing to be aware of is changes in the environment that may trigger clinical signs in your cat, leading to this condition becoming recurrent. Environmental enrichment is key for these animals, and this can include:
👉 Keeping a regular daily schedule for feeding, playing and affection
👉 Making any changes to your cat’s routine slowly over time
👉 Adding scratching posts and toys
👉 Reducing competition in multiple cat households by having one more litter tray than the number of cats, plenty of resting places, and individual access to food and water for each cat

Get in touch with us if you spot these signs in your cat, as a thorough investigation is needed!

Does your pet have characteristic expressions that you just can’t resist? 🥰

A curious head tilt when you mention something they like?

An arched posture when they’re inviting you to play?

A silly face when they’re sleeping comfortably?

We’d love to see some pictures! 📷 Brighten our day and share them with us in the comments!

While setting up your bunnies’ enclosure, you may wonder whether to do it indoors or outdoors. The truth is there is no right answer to this question, as it’s important to find an arrangement that works for you and your bunnies! 🐰🐰

Here are some of the pros and cons of each option:

🏠 Indoors – protection from the elements and potential predators, closer proximity to the family vs smaller cages, contact with other pets.

🌳 Outdoors – A more natural environment, larger enclosures; vs difficulties controlling temperature and humidity conditions, exposure to parasites, diseases and possible predators.

What does your bunny enclosure look like? Show us in the comments!

If you have a home with more than one cat, first of all congratulations on being so lucky! 😻 😻Secondly, don’t forget to always keep an extra litterbox available to avoid conflicts between your feline friends.

Cats are prone to urinary problems when they are stressed and having too few litter boxes can be a sticking point between your pets. An extra box can solve this problem and save you and your cats loads of problems!

How do you manage this? Let us know in the comments below.

Valentine’s Day isn’t just for roses and romantic dinners - our furry friends deserve a little extra love too! Whether it’s a new toy, their favourite treat, or a belly rub marathon, they’ll adore being spoiled.

🍫 Reminder from us: Keep chocolates well out of paw’s reach (no matter how persuasive those puppy eyes are), since they’re toxic for pets, and make sure any flowers you bring home are pet safe.

We get it. No one loves picking up after their dog, but did you know that you’re preventing diseases if you do it?

Dog poo can carry parasites like Toxocara, which can harm other animals, and even people.

Here are some helpful tips:

🛍️ Always carry poo bags with you and keep extras in your pocket, bag, or coat. You’ll thank yourself later!

🗑️ Make sure to bin it afterwards. Don’t leave it bagged and abandoned.

Helping to keep our green spaces clean is a small step that makes a big difference for our community! No one wants to dodge landmines on their morning walk. 💩

Different kinds of seizures can lead to different signs, but if your pet is having a seizure, they might:

🧠 Have trouble walking and become unsteady

🧠 Collapse and fall to the ground

🧠 Foam from the mouth and drool

🧠 Lose consciousness

🧠 Urinate or defecate because they lose control of body functions

🧠 Shake, twitch and kick their legs

We know this is a stressful situation, but try to remain as calm as possible, make sure there’s nothing around them where they can hurt themselves, film the episode if you can, and get in touch with us.

If your pet has a seizure that lasts longer than a few minutes, or has several seizures in a row, this is an emergency and you need to bring them in right away! 🚑
