We don’t routinely see chickens but we know a lot of our clients keep them.
The entire UK is now under bird flu regulation which mean that you must now keep your chickens (or ducks or other birds) indoors.
You CAN let them outside if they are in a run or enclosure that is netted in such a way that wild birds cannot get into the enclosure but it might be sensible to add a cover (clear plastic sheeting will do) to the roof to protect them from wild bird droppings.
The virus that causes bird flu can stay infectious in faeces, carcases and feathers for around 50 days. It can stay infectious for even longer in wet conditions and standing water so please make sure all areas are cleaned thoroughly before letting your birds into outdoor runs.
Keep those chooks safe!!
