Best Of Opposite S*x dog & Reserve Best of Breed- earning his 2nd Green star today!!!🎉🥳 one step closer to Irish Champion title 🇮🇪

Best Puppy in breed & Reserve Green Star in a group of 6 bi***es - Roxy was the only puppy in the group, amongst both adult and champion bi***es just wow!!!

Roxanne also competed in SB stakes & got 4th.

Last but not least we have competed in The "brace" competition - which is for a pair of dogs specifically designed with breeders in mind. The pair of dogs being shown together are judged on consistency: type, colour, temperament and specific breed characteristics. More than any other class, the brace allows the breeder to show off the quality and uniformity of dogs being produced in their lines. Rollingbones got 2nd place which we are absolutely over the moon about 😀

Domi & her dog. This weekend was an amazing one, both showing and having fun in Luxembourg ❤️🇱🇺 our boy Piece of Happiness Mickey JW did us so proud as always, showed so beautifully in the ring with our daughter Domi. On both days he got RES CACL & received an excellent qualification on both days (videos in the comments since we can’t add them in the post😀)

Picking up your new puppy!

Just a quick one - I've seen a couple of dogs recently who were with their breeder (both farm breeders) until they were over 12 weeks old. This is fine with really good breeders who do a lot of socialisation with their pups, but it REALLY isn't ideal if the breeder doesn't socialise the puppies (which is very common with farm bred collies).
Puppies need as much socialistion as possible before they are 12 weeks old (see this article for more about what socialisation should look like:https://collieconsultant.co.uk/2023/10/23/border-collie-puppy-socialisation/). Anything they experience within this time period, providing they don't find it frightening, is much less likely to cause anxiety later in life.

At around 12 weeks old, the period that is thought to be ideal for socialisation ends, so trying to socialise them to the same extent as you would a puppy under 12 weeks is much more risky and less beneficial over the longer term as socialising them when they are under 12 weeks.

So when picking up a puppy, ask the breeder what socialisation they have been doing with their puppies (at the bare minimum they will ideally have been taking them out in the car and having lots of different people of all ages to visit the pups). If you are concerned that the breeder isn’t giving the puppy enough safe experiences of different people and the outside world (carried of course) try and pick up your puppy before 12 weeks to avoid lasting fear issues that can sometimes develop.

It was quite a long day! 🤣 Domi and I left the house at 3 a.m. to attend the Paignton & District Fanciers Association Championship Show, which started at 9:30 a.m. It turned out to be a successful day! I must admit, I slept through the second half while Domi competed, as you can see in the photo lol. I needed to recharge for the drive back. Now we're just an hour away from home. Definitely worth it! 🥳

We had the pleasure of attending two fantastic lectures in the past month that provided a wealth of knowledge and access to reliable, current information.

The lecture was conducted by Katarzyna Adamus-Fiszer, a renowned expert in canine genetics, biologist, academic researcher, university lecturer, canine judge, and trainer of breeders and judges.

To sum up this weekend, it was amazing. Laszlo and Domi got ‘Qualification- Excellent’ in every single class at the 3 shows they competed in this weekend. The mutual love between the two of them has really shown as their performance and team work was flawless. Considering the very hot days during the shows Laszlo has given Domi 110% - we cannot wait what the future holds for them. Thank you Ireland for being so good to us. Until next time 😀🇮🇪❤️🐾
