Time to show off those winter-ready looks! ❄️🐾

As the temperature drops, it's important to keep our furry friends warm and cosy. Here are some essential tips to ensure they stay comfortable during the chilly season:

🧥 Bundle Up: Train your dog to wear a well-fitting jumper or jacket for warmth during walks or outdoor play. If there's deep snow, keep them on a lead to avoid hidden dangers like frozen water or deep holes

🐾 Limit Outdoor Time: Keep your cat’s outdoor adventures short in freezing or snowy conditions to protect their paws and ears from frost damage

🛏️ Create a Cosy Spot: Make sure they have a soft, warm bed indoors where they can curl up and relax

🌡️ Keep the Indoors Toasty: Ensure your home is comfortably heated and offer extra blankets for snuggles

Share a photo of your pet in their winter gear or cosy spot below! 🐶❄️

Today is World Diabetes Day! 🐾💙

Just like humans, our furry companions can develop diabetes too.
Pet diabetes occurs when the body can’t properly produce or utilise insulin, leading to elevated blood sugar levels.
Early detection is key to managing this condition and ensuring your pet lives a happy, healthy life.

Some signs to watch for include increased thirst, frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, reduced activity/feeling tired, and increased appetite.
If you notice any of these symptoms, book an appointment with us right away.

Make Every Day an Adventure for Your Cat! 🐱🌟

Keeping your cat enriched and happy doesn’t have to be complicated. Spice up their routine with these fun and simple activities that keep them entertained and mentally sharp:

🐾 Scrunched Paper Play: Toss a scrunched-up paper ball for endless entertainment!
🐾 Hide and Seek: Open doors, cupboards, or closets for a mini-exploration adventure.
🐾 Blanket Fort Fun: Drape a blanket over toys or furniture to create an instant cat-sized mystery!
🐾 Cardboard Creations: Build a pyramid with toilet or kitchen roll tubes for some DIY fun.
🐾 Puzzle Feeder: Turn mealtime into a game with scattered treats or a puzzle feeder.
🐾 DIY Wand Toy: Wiggle a ribbon or string to activate your cat’s hunting instincts - but be sure they can’t take it away and swallow it!

🔄 Tip: Switch it up daily! Rotate small toys to keep things fresh and exciting.

To the animals lost in service, and to those who serve us today 💜

Animals like horses, dogs and pigeons were often drafted into the war effort, and purple poppies can be worn to remember the service of these animals and the lives that were lost.

🔥🔥🔥REMEMBER REMEMBER 🔥🔥🔥

Traditionally this time of year there are a lot of bonfires, and not always on November 5th!
Check there’s no wildlife taking shelter in it before lighting e.g. hedgehogs.

If you have one in your garden, PLEASE make sure it is completely out, especially before letting pets anywhere near the area.

Unsuspecting animals (wild or pet) can run over any embers, which may still be hot, and get burnt feet.

Let's ease cat firework anxiety with these five top tips ✋

😼 Create a Cosy Hideaway: Set up a snug space for your cat to retreat to during the fireworks. A quiet corner with their favourite blanket or a covered cat bed can provide comfort and security.

🍵💦 Food & Water Access: Make sure your cat has access to food and water throughout the night. If you know fireworks are coming, consider feeding them a little earlier to reduce stress during mealtime.

🚪🔑Secure Your Home: Close all windows and doors to prevent your frightened kitty from darting outside. Use curtains or blinds to block out flashes of light from the fireworks.

🎵Play Soothing Sounds: Use soft music or turn on the TV to help mask the sound of fireworks. Cats often find comfort in familiar noises, which can help ease their anxiety.

📦 Provide Hiding Spots: Cats love to hide! Leave boxes or tunnels around for your cat to explore and retreat to when they feel scared. These spaces can make them feel safer.

Let's ease dog firework anxiety with these five top tips ✋

💩 Toilet Time: Try to get your dog to go to the toilet before the fireworks start and keep them indoors during the displays.

🍵💦 Food & Water Access: For dogs that struggle to eat when stressed, ensure they have access to food and water all night. If you know when the worst nights for fireworks will be, feed your dog late afternoon or early evening before the noise begins.

🚪🔑Secure Your Home: Make sure your home is secure by closing all doors and windows, as scared pets can sometimes bolt. Close curtains and blinds to minimise flashes.

🔊 Create Background Noise: Play moderately loud rhythmic music with a good beat to help mask the sound of fireworks. Alternatively, familiar sounds like the TV may also comfort your dog.

❎ Prevent Trapping: Ensure your dog cannot get trapped, as this may worsen their phobias. Avoid shutting them in tight spaces

👻🎃 Six Ways to Keep Your Pets Happy on Spooky Day! 🎃👻

Halloween can be a fun and exciting time, but the constant doorbell ringing, and trick-or-treaters can be stressful for our furry friends.
Here are some tips to help create a calm environment for your pets:

🎃 Create a Safe Space: Set up a quiet room with their favourite toys and bedding where your pet can retreat from the Halloween hustle and bustle.

🎃 Keep Them Busy: Provide interactive toys or treats to keep your pet engaged and distracted.

🎃 Play Calming Music: Soft music or white noise can help drown out the sounds of doorbells and excited children.

🎃 Use Pet Calming Products: Consider using pheromone diffusers or calming sprays to help reduce stress.

🎃 Limit Costume Time: If you dress up your pet, make sure the costume is comfortable and doesn't add to their anxiety.

🎃 Stay Calm: Your pet can sense your stress. Stay calm and relaxed to help them feel more at ease.

Keep your pets safe and stress-free this Halloween!
