We have somewhere where we can do a social walk that is secure... meaning... it's all fenced off. Tried and tested, and Lilli most certainly approves.

Who is up for a social walk? Parking is limited however.. but.. there is a dog friendly pub 😬 just across the road. With parking...

Let me know your thoughts.. purely a friendly. An opportunity to allow your dogs to be social, big enough space for dogs who struggle with reactivity.

Do enquire and if this is something you feel you and your dog will benefit from, please do give me a hollah.

Love from the Lilli with a beautiful smile on her 😍

Max perfecting his sits and waits with the kids showing him how it's done..

So proud of Max in how far he's come considering his very sketchy past. Some humans are total πŸ‘ holes...

His nature is just so beautiful but is just conflicted when it comes to greeting dogs.

This boy never knew how to sit on command let alone for him to achieve the stays. Well done Max 🀩

Snapshot of the Mr Tango in town working on his obedience. The down waits were perfect and his reactivity has come on so nicely the last few weeks. Will be doing a follow up video of his progress soon.

It looks like he's really enjoying his lessons with that beaming smile on him.

Keep up the good work Tango πŸ‘πŸ» πŸ™Œ

Well, well, well, looks like Bean has some hidden talents up his sleeve...or should I say paws?! Who knew our little furry friend could differentiate his left from right? 🧐 It's like having a little doggy Einstein on our hands! 🐢

But let's talk about your genius move, my friend. Dropping that reward and rewarding Bean for not breaking his position? Pure brilliance! 🌟 You're like the dog whisperer meets Pavlov meets the Queen of shaping behaviors! πŸ‘‘

And then it's time for the real challenge...teaching Bean his left from right. Cue the dramatic music and the spotlight, because this is where the real magic happens! ✨ I can just picture Bean now, sitting there with a thoughtful expression, contemplating the deep philosophical question of "Which way is left and which way is right?" πŸ€”

But hey, we all have those moments where we think our pets are geniuses, only to realize they're just really good at getting treats. πŸ˜‚ It's all part of the fun and games of training our little four-legged buddies!

So here's to Bean, the left-right mastermind, and to you, the ultimate dog training guru! πŸŽ‰ Keep up the good work, keep those treats coming, and who knows, maybe next Bean will be learning how to do the cha-cha-cha! πŸ’ƒπŸΎ

Murphy, you little goofball, I see you over there with your quirky ways. You've come a long way, my friend. I've watched you grow and evolve, and I've gotta say, I'm proud of the progress you've made. It's been a wild ride, but you've embraced it with open arms and a killer sense of humor. Keep being your fabulous self, and never lose that spark.

Oh, and let's not forget to give credit where credit is due. Shoutout to your mummy for believing in me and trusting me to guide you through this journey. It's an honor and a privilege, my dear. And hey, I'm glad to see that my presence brings you so much joy. I mean, who wouldn't be happy to see me strutting into the room, right?

So here's to us, to our little family, and to all the laughter and learning that's yet to come. Let's keep slaying, keep growing, and keep embracing our fabulous selves.

It's so important to pay attention to your dog's signals and not rush them if they're feeling overwhelmed. Every dog is different and it's crucial to understand how they communicate their feelings. If you're ever unsure of what to look out for, don't hesitate to reach out for help.

I recently experienced this with Barney. He was quivering and seemed stressed, and I could tell that he was overwhelmed with the environment. Even though I had good intentions and wanted him to engage with me and enjoy our outing, I realized that he didn't need the pressure. It was tempting to try to force the situation, but I knew that would have been the wrong move. Instead, I respected Barney's feelings and let him take his time to acclimate to the environment.

As a result, we were able to play and have fun once Barney felt more comfortable. He even played with a new toy and really came out of his shell. I love seeing his enthusiasm, especially since he's a classic Staffy.

It's crucial to remember that every dog is an individual with their own unique set of needs and boundaries. When it comes to supporting your dog, it's important to be patient and observant. Rushing them or forcing them into unfamiliar or overwhelming situations can do more harm than good.

If you notice that your dog is showing signs of stress or discomfort, take a step back and give them space. Allow them to explore and engage with the environment at their own pace. This might mean simply letting them watch and observe from a distance, rather than pushing them to participate in activities that they're not ready for.

One of the key things to look out for is body language. Signs of stress in dogs can include trembling, panting, excessive drooling, yawning, and avoiding eye contact. They might also exhibit behaviors like pacing, hiding, or trying to escape the situation altogether. These are all important signals that your dog may be feeling overwhelmed and needs some time to decompress.

In Barney's case, I noticed his quivering and took that as a clear indication that he needed some space and time to feel comfortable. By respecting his boundaries and giving him the opportunity to acclimate at his own pace, he was eventually able to relax and enjoy himself.

It's also essential to remember that it's okay for your dog to just "people watch" and take in their surroundings without feeling pressured to interact. Every dog has their own comfort zone, and it's important to honor that.

When your dog does start to show signs of relaxation and engagement, it's a great time to reward and praise them. Positive reinforcement can help build their confidence and encourage them to continue exploring and participating in new experiences.

In Barney's case, once he felt more comfortable, we were able to play and have a great time together. Seeing him come out of his shell and enjoy himself was incredibly rewarding. It's moments like these that remind me of the importance of patience and understanding when it comes to supporting our furry friends.

Ultimately, the key takeaway is to always prioritize your dog's well-being and comfort. By taking the time to understand their signals and respecting their boundaries, you can create a positive and supportive environment for them to thrive. And remember, if you're ever unsure of how to support your dog in a specific situation, don't hesitate to reach out for guidance from a professional. It's always better to seek help and advice than to inadvertently put your dog in a stressful or uncomfortable situation.

Intro To Canine Academy

I am Mina and I have a Kelpie cross German Shepherd and her name is Rosie and we have moved to a lovely area called Angmering based off the A27 near Littlehampton.

I would like to think I will get the pleasure in giving you a tour in my new home town and what it has to offer along of course my doggy business. It has been such lovely experience so far working with dogs and their parents and not one have I felt I have failed at, but be it a challenge I am always up for!

I do like to think that its not just having to get qualifications working with dogs but having an understanding in dogs, as well as getting to know them and their parents personalities and building that relationship along with trust. Which we all know is important! I have lost count in how many dogs I have helped as I have worked along side dogs for over 5 years be it rehabilitation, trying to help rehome dogs (which where it all started) along with gaining a great portfolio of my students here at Canine Academy. I have worked with all dogs big and small, as well as working with all different personalities!

We both, Rosie and I hope to get the opportunity to meet you for a free consultation, so please feel free to get in touch.
