How about an introduction to one of our newest vets at Wishing Well Vets! 🐾

Meet Mark RCVS who recently started with us just before the festive period last year.
Mark grew up on a farm outside Dundee and graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2013. After 5 years in small animal hospitals Mark moved to mixed animal practice for 6 years before coming back to where his passion lies with small animals.
He has a particular interest in soft tissue surgery and ophthalmology and is looking forward to getting to know all the clients in Wishaw.

Outside of work Mark is kept very busy with his horses, 5 dogs and 3 year old son. He regularly competes the horses alongside his wife as well as helping her with their growing stud farm. 🐎

Keep an eye out on those emails, Shortly we will be introducing the whole team at Wishing Well Vets. 🥰🫶

⚠️FRIDAY 24th JANUARY⚠️

Please note that there is a RED weather warning in place throughout the day around our area, from Friday mid-morning into the afternoon.

Please take your time when travelling to our clinic for any appointments as well as collecting any medication. 🚗

We will be staying open throughout the day and will be available to discuss any worries that you may have with your pets. 📞

To protect your pets within this weather we do advise to prepare a safe space and keep them inside;

🐭Please bring your small furry friends inside.
🐱Ensure that your cats are indoors and windows are shut so that they can not escape.
🐶Only walk your dog if you feel like it is necessary and ensure to keep them on the lead so they do not get spooked, we would also recommend only walking in the day light.
🐩
🐾 Keep windows shut as well as curtains, you can also put music/tv on in the background to avoid your pets being scared by gusts of wind.

Please ensure that you and your pets stay safe throughout the weather warning. 🌬

Frequently Asked Questions at Wishing Well Vets:

Q: How long do I have to wait for a Prescription to be ready?
A: Currently all prescriptions including ‘Repeat Prescriptions’ will take up to 48hrs, the team will send you a text message or phone call when the medication is ready to collect. Our team will try their best to complete any URGENT requests as soon as they can, if you have not heard from our team after 72hrs please call the clinic.

Q: If my pet is on long term medication, how often do they need to be seen?
A: Depends on every case, but for the majority of stable patients on long term medication, the practice will require them to be seen every 6 months at least, and depending on the medication, blood tests may be required. This is to follow up the current legislation and the indications of the manufacturers of the medications, as well as to ensure minimal complications for our patients. Ensure to discuss this with your vet when your pet is starting on a new medication.

Q: Can I get a written prescription for my pets medication?
A: Yes, when your pet is prescribed a medication, you can request that this is given to you as a written prescription. A written prescription has a cost of £20 per medication, which added to the cost of the medication online or in the chemist could mean that a written prescription is not recommended for short courses of medication. As well, written prescriptions can take up to a week to be processed by providers, so they are not suitable for conditions that need immediate treatment.

Q: My pet has had treatment how do I claim my pet insurance?
A: At Wishing Well Vets insurance claims can take up to 2-4 weeks. Please bring in your completed insurance form or activate via your insurance portal and let the team know. A fee will be applied when insurance claims are needed to be completed. For a New Claim £16 & A Continuous Claim £8.

Q: Do we do financial payment plans?
A: Unfortunately, we do not allow payment plans at this clinic, including direct claims. Full payment is required at all times for medication and at the time of your visit. If you are looking for finical help please see if you are eligible with PDSA or contact Dog Aid Scotland. The team will try to help as much as they can with any financial discussions.

Q: What is our Pet Health Plan?
A: Our Pet Health Plan provides you with; Annual health check & Booster, Six-month health check with a vet, Flea Treatments for 12 months, Worming Treatment for 12 months, Free Annual Basic Urine Screen, 4 Free Nurse consults as well as 10% discounts on neutering & Kennel Cough. Please contact the team if you would like to discuss further.

Q: How long do I need to wait for my pets in house blood results?
A: We try our best to give you a call within 48hrs of your pet's blood results if they have been taken within the clinic. If you have not heard from our team within 72hrs, please give the clinic a call. If any external samples are sent away to the lab, it can take up to 7-10 days, please call the clinic after 10 days if you have not heard had your results reported back.

Q: What is your fail to attend appointments protocol?
A: If you are unable to make your appointment, please try to contact the clinic at the earliest convince we are aware mistakes can happen. We will try to contact you to rebook your missed appointment, if you miss your appointment twice without any contact you will be charged at your next appointment an attendance fee of £10. Unfortunately, we are seeing to many missed appointments which could have been given to sick pets who have needed that appointment. 🐾
