It's rare that our team get some time off from answering phones as well as treating your pets, however they have been out lately in the sunshine brightening the exterior up (as well as the weeding 😁)!🌷🪻🌹

Lets have another Meet & Greet,

Clare has been at our practise for roughly 26 years, She is one of our animal care assistants. You will have probably met her whilst being in our clinic. Her favourite part of the job is working with the team and getting all the support that she needs. She does like to meet new kittens as well as puppies! 🧜‍♀️

In Clare's free time she likes to walk Xander in the woods as well as going to the beach with him. She also likes to cuddle up with him after a long day at work as well as watching TV.🐾

It's another great start to the week, Which means we have another meet & greet. 🐾

Meet one our receptionist's Shannon who joined September last year, She has currently been working in the veterinary industry for around 2 years! She previously worked at Vets Now doing night shifts by helping the clinic deal with multiple overnight emergencies, before then she also volunteered as canine career at Dogs Trust. Her passion is to become a Veterinary Assistant so she can assistant the vets & nurses throughout our clinic. I'm sure most our clients have already met Shannon and aware that she adores meeting the new puppies as well as the kittens!

In her free time Shannon likes to do Flyball with her two dogs Winston & Buffy, most weekends she has dog training and competitions. She also likes to go on adventures such as exploring in Glencoe as well as the lake district, however she does like to stay at home and relax as much as she can.

Please remember that all prescriptions take up to 48 hours and we are trying our best to book appointments and get those prescriptions ready for you 🐾

It is National Lost Pet Prevention Month 🐱🐾

Five years’ worth of missing pet data from PetLog – the UK’s largest micro-chipping database – has revealed a 63% increase in missing pets during the summer months.

This is why July has been recognised as Lost Pet prevention Month, an estimated 2,760 dogs were reported stolen in 2022 and only 1 in 4 dogs were reunited with their owners.

Please remember to get your pets micro-chipped, and also remember to ensure that your microchip details are up to date. You can easily do this by ringing up the microchip company and checking your details. You will have a better chance of your pet returning back to yourself safely if details are recently updated.

Another meet and greet to our Wishing Well Family 🐾

Meet our head nurse Caroline,
She has been working in the veterinary industry for around 10 years! She started as a receptionist and made her through her career to become a RVN. I’m sure some of you have already met her, definitely if you have small furries! 🐀

Caroline loves her rescue cat Mr Binx, sometimes he comes to see us at work to get his health check to ensure that he is healthy and happy! In her free time Caroline likes to watch the football, go to cheerleading practise as well as keeping fit!

We would like to say thankyou to all our clients for supporting us through our change of staff, over the last year.

We would be even more thankful if you could leave us a review on Google or on our page ❤️

Puppy cuddles at the vets are the best!!

We like to ensure that we give the best care we can and being able to socialise them early so they don't become nervous or scared on their vet visits!

Meet Jade one of our newest veterinary nurses who is giving little Teddy cuddles after his second vaccinations. Jade has been working in small animal practice for over 10 years. You will see her around as she loves the nurse clinics and building relationships with the owners. She has a keen interest in small animal nutrition and is currently undergoing a certificate in Emergency and Critical Care.

When Jade is not at the practise she is kept busy with her two young children, 2 spaniels and her kitten.

Lets all make Jade feel like she is a part of Wishing Wells Family already 🐾🐾

Lately we have had multiple phone calls about Ticks due to the season, Here are some top tips and also a video to show how to remove those ticks;

🐾Ticks are most commonly found in the spring and summer months.
🐾Most are found in areas that cats and dogs commonly roam in like grassy fields and woodlands
🐾 Ticks can spread a number of diseases such as, Lymes disease, Ehrlichiosis and Babesiosis.
🐾 Tick sizes vary from 1mm to 1cm long. It’s a good idea to check your pet for ticks after walks or being outside. They can be very hard to see and find so prevention is best way to protect your furry friend.
🐾 How can we prevent ticks? In our veterinary clinic we have products available for flea and tick prevention. They come in either a spot on or tablet form. Bring your pet in for a free weight check and we can prescribe the right treatment for them!
🐾 What to do when a tick is found? NEVER PULL the tick! Instead buy a tick twister or come in for a visit with the nurse to remove the tick safely. The video shown below is our special tick removing gadget that can be purchased at the veterinary clinic. This is the method that should be used to remove ticks.
🐾 Dispose of tick carefully as they can transmit diseases so put them in a jar or closed container or flush them down the toilet.

Remove ticks easily with TICK TWISTER® : - doesn’t leave the tick’s rostrum in the skin- doesn’t squeeze the tick’s abdomen- removes ticks of any size- remov...

Lets turn those Monday frowns upside down...

Does anyone know the breed of these adorable 8 week old puppies?

Their owners brought them in for their first health check as well as getting their microchips, but mainly for the staff to get puppy cuddles & kisses.

Did you know it's a legal requirement to have any dog over the age of eight weeks micro-chipped and to keep your details up-to-date.

ITS WORLD PENGUIN DAY!! 🐧🐧

What better way to celebrate the cuteness of our amazing feathered friends, than by honouring them with their very own awareness day.

See below for some facts;
🐧 There are approximately 595,000 adult emperor penguins in Antarctica.
🐧 Emperors are the biggest of the 18 species of penguin found today, and one of the largest of all birds. They are around 120 centimetres tall (about the height of a six-year-old child) and weigh around 40 kilograms.
🐧 Emperors are uniquely adapted to survive these harsh conditions when temperatures can drop down to a bone-chilling -50°C with winds of up to 200 km/hr.
🐧 An adult penguin eats about 2 – 3 kilograms per day but can sometimes eat twice this much to build up their store of body fat for winter or for feeding their chicks.

In light of the recent news articles surrounding the veterinary industry, we would like to remind our clients that we proudly remain an independent practice. We are still working hard to provide our clients the best veterinary care that we can whilst dealing with the uprising of costs across the UK.

Wishing Well Vets is owned by one of our vets Sharon McNeil who is also apart of our clinical team. Our goal is to provide the best care as we can for all our patients, to ensure that you feel like you can get in touch with the team within the opening hours, but also ensuring when we are shut you are given the correct OOH care. Within the current veterinary industry there has been an significant price increase with our manufactures for all medicines as well as supplies. We have tried in the past not to increase our prices however, we have no option but to pass these increased costs on to our patient’s dedicated owners.

We are more than happy to offer estimates and small quotes to our clients if you are worried about anything, we are also happy to discuss pet treatment depending on each case.

We are also taking on new clients, so please feel free to get in touch with the team,

Thank-you to everyone for being apart of Wishing Wells Veterinary Team & being supportive.
