On Christmas Eve we had to say a very sad farewell to our Frankie. As many know, he was a very nervous and anxious boy, after being used as a breeding dog on a puppy farm for his first seven years. He would always be a little worried but, with lots of love patience and time, he began to love and trust us.

Little Frankie Boy had, and always will have, a very special place in my heart.

🌾❎ G R A S S S E E D S ❎🌾

It’s grass seed season! I know because I see them…on your dog.

These little blighters are easily picked up by your dog, in their coat, paws, ears, mouth….! They can embed themselves, cause irritation, soreness and, if left unnoticed, can even be fatal.

Please check over your dogs after exercise, all over, but especially checking deep in between toes, and ears, groin, ‘and armpit’ areas.

🫧🫧 F L U F F Y F R I D A Y 🫧🫧

So this little ball of fluff, aka SUMMER, had her first bath and dry at the salon, and what an absolute superstar she was ✨

After a number of very important 30 minute visits to the salon over the last couple of weeks, not only had Summer and I gotten to know each other, but she was trusting of me, and very familiar to the surrounding sights and smells of the salon. And, between visits, Summer’s owner also worked with the hints and tips at home 🙌🏻

All VITAL towards helping make a puppy’s first grooming experience, a fun and pleasurable
one 🛁

So much so, Summer was more interested in bird watching whilst having her first blow dry!

On this day, National Dog Day - a day to also raise awareness of the number of dogs that need to be rescued - it is also 5 years today that Rita from Romania joined the Hazell family 🥰

Not only is Rita the most sweet, the most intelligent, funny and loving dog we could’ve wished for, she has also helped show Frankie (our very anxious ex breeding rescue) how to ‘be’ a dog 🥹

So I thought I’d also use this special day and opportunity to reach out for donations for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. Battersea, along with many other animal charities, are currently overwhelmed with cats and dogs that have been given up after being rescued/bought during lockdown.

Myself, Chris Hazell and Rita dog, are running the Muddy Dogs course together with our friend Fiona Roberts and her Romanian rescue dog ‘the Rickster’ 🐶🐶, In Cheltenham on 10th September.

Our team name is “Rosie Remembered” in memory of Fiona’s beloved Rosie Bear dog, who has previously completed and absolutely loved the Muddy Dog challenge!
