💬Eland are one of the largest antelope species in the world, native to the plains of East and South Africa. They can often be seen using their large spiralled horns in displays of natural behaviour.
➡️Males will rub their horns against objects and the ground to show their strength and ferocity. The females will use their horns to defend their calves against predators.

🌍🦁🍃 Today is United Nations World Wildlife Day, a day to celebrate the amazing wild animals and plants that make our planet so incredible.
The theme for 2025 is Wildlife Conservation. Conservation is about protecting wonderful animal species for the long term – but also securing a sustainable future for all of us.💚
Woburn Safari Park undertakes vital conservation work and supports some truly wonderful charities. Here are three top tips for anyone wanting to get involved with animal protection:
1️⃣ Take action! There are small things that every single one of us can do that make a big impact on wildlife. Volunteering to plant trees, stopping using pesticides, picking up litter, driving slowly on rural roads, and reducing meat consumption are all ways to make a big impact on wildlife in your local communities.
2️⃣ Raise awareness! Many people don't know the scale of the crisis affecting wildlife, but spreading the word about the challenges they are facing can encourage more people to make positive change. It's estimated over a million species are now under threat of extinction. Animals can't speak, so we need to be their voice and champion them!
3️⃣ Donate! There are many charities dedicated to the protection of incredible, diverse species across the world. Donating to these charities is a powerful way to help them continue their vital work. Learn more about the projects Woburn supports here: https://woburnsafaripark.com/4ez0XZX

Simon, the Egyptian tortoise, is thoroughly enjoying his lunch! 🥬
❔Did you know that Egyptian tortoises are the smallest species of tortoise found in the Northern Hemisphere? They were once native to Egypt, and so these little creatures love desert conditions and can often be seen resting in the hot sand in their enclosure.
➡️ You can visit these tiny herbivores in the Foot Safari, where they can be spotted enjoying a varied diet of grasses as well as a variety of fruits and vegetables.
