Amur Tiger Vera Relaxes in her Pond │ Woburn Safari Park
Vera loves a dip in the pond! 🐯💧
📸 Deputy Head Of Carnivores, Tommy caught this awesome footage of Vera taking a moment to chill out with a refreshing dip in her pond.
🐅 Amur tigers are extremely strong swimmers and are known to use a water source as a way to cool down in hot temperatures.
📍Vera is ranked as one of the most important females in the tiger population in Europe, as Amur tigers are Endangered in the wild. She has already successfully reared cubs at Woburn that have now moved on to other collections and had cubs of their own, continuing this important bloodline.
Thiên than loves playing in the water, and always looks busy doing it! 😂🦦

Welcoming Two New White Rhinos │ Woburn Safari Park
DOUBLE THE EXCITEMENT... Welcome Azeeza and Granville 🦏❤️
✨Woburn Safari Park is thrilled to announce the arrival of two new Southern White rhinos called Granville and Azeeza. Granville, a five-year-old male, arrived from West Midlands Safari Park on August 20th, And Azeeza, a three-year-old female arrived the following day from Safari Zoo
✅ Born on February 8th, 2021, Azeeza's name means ‘Strong, Powerful, and Dear.’ When she has settled in, she will meet Granville and the other rhino at the Park as she starts this exciting new chapter of her life.
❤️The new arrivals bring hope for the potential breeding of this endangered species at the Park, as they are classified as ‘Near Threatened’ due to ongoing poaching and habitat loss out in the wild.
WELCOME GRANVILLE 🦏 🩶
✅Keepers are thrilled to announce the arrival of 5-year-old Southern White rhino, Granville from West Midlands Safari Park.
✨Known for his friendly nature and love of attention from his keepers, Granville is expected to settle in well with the rest of the rhino herd. Keepers are confident he will adapt well to Woburn’s 42-acre reserve in the Road Safari, integrating with other resident species like ostriches, cattle and eland antelopes.
📍While keepers are excited to welcome the newcomer, they are also preparing to say goodbye to the much-loved rhino, Bonnie. Since she arrived in 2021, Bonnie (who is also Granville's auntie!) has made a profound impression on keepers and visitors alike. She will be sorely missed as she embarks on a new adventure at West Midlands Safari Park.
🦏 Granville brings hope for the potential breeding of this species at the Park, as these rhino are classified as ‘Near Threatened’ due to ongoing poaching and habitat loss out in the wild.
Welcome to the Park Granville! ✨

Forget blackcurrant, these are BLOOD ice lollies! 🩸🦁
✨When temperatures climb at the Park, keepers come up with all sorts of creative ways to keep the animals cool while encouraging their natural behaviours and instincts.
📸Keeper Lauren snapped these clips of the African lion pride enjoying these huge blood 'ice lollies', which are made by freezing blood in a large mould for them to enjoy.
👅Lions have extremely rough sandpaper-like tongues to help them break down meat, so these ice lollies wont last long!

From Shy Arrival To Confident Cat... Dmitri the Amur Tiger! ✨🐯
✨Dmitri arrived at Woburn Safari Park from ZSL Whipsnade Zoo in 2022, as part of a carefully coordinated move to support the welfare and future of his endangered species.
📍After his initial move, Woburn's keepers worked tirelessly to help Dmitri transition from a zoo to a safari park environment, which involved building his confidence in the expansive 9-acre drive-through reserve, getting him used to vehicles and introducing him to Vera by sight and scent.
⬇️ Watch Dmitri's progress unfold with the care and guidance of our dedicated Carnivore Team in this 7 minute mini documentary!

🐘A Sugar Cane Feast for World Elephant Day!
✅Dedicated keepers organised a sugar cane feast for female Asian elephants Tarli, Chandrika and Damini to celebrate World Elephant Day on the 12th of August.
✨Keepers loaded an intricate feeding tool with the tasty sugar cane, which encourages the elephants to use their dexterous trunks to seek out food - as they would do in the wild!
🐘The trio couldn't wait to get stuck into their latest enrichment activity and could be seen munching tasty sugar cane and could even be heard trumpeting with excitement!
⬇️Wish them a happy World Elephant Day below!
We threw a summer party for the giraffes! They were particularly fond of their mashed butternut squash 'cocktails', complete with a sprig of mint 🍸🦒

It's World Tiger Day! 🌍🐯
What better way to celebrate than watching male Amur tiger Dmitri enjoy one of his favourite enrichment activities - taking his ball into the pond for a splash session! 🐯
Amur tigers are critically endangered due to habitat loss and poaching, with as few as just 400 individuals remaining in the wild. World Tiger Day is an international day aimed at raising awareness about the threats these amazing big cats face ✨
We would like to say a HUGE thank you to all who participated in our Charity Tiger Weekend to support the Wildcats Conservation Alliance. Your ongoing support will help protect big cats like Amur tigers out in the wild 🧡

The newest arrivals to the Park aren't what they seem! 🐐💬
✅Listen to Keeper James introduce the newest arrivals to Woburn Safari Park, a curious herd of barbary sheep!
📍Barbary sheep are a mammal native to the rocky mountains of North Africa, known to local people as 'Aoudads'. This species is incorrectly identified as sheep, when in fact their genes suggest they are much more closely related to wild goats!
💬Populations of Barbary sheep have dramatically declined over recent years, due to poaching and habitat degradation. As a result, they are now listed as 'Vulnerable' by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
✨Keepers are delighted to welcome a new species to the Park, helping to conserve this Vulnerable species and educate the public about the threats they are facing out in the wild. Spot them in Giraffe Junction in the Road Safari on your next visit!

Hmmmm... what is this?! 🐻
Keeper Lauren captured North American black bear siblings, Colorado, Aspen, Maple and Harvard enjoying their latest enrichment activity! 🐻
This time, they could be seen exploring long suspended sticks filled with seeds and nuts! Enrichment activities like these encourage the bears to use their natural foraging instincts, as they use their long tongues and sharp claws to grasp the cardboard and eat the food inside 🍯
These bears are youngsters and can often be found hanging out with their mother Phoenix, they're a lively bunch and you can typically catch them getting up to all sorts of shenanigans in the Road Safari right now! ❤️
Which bear do you think has the best tactic for reaching the hidden food? 😂Let us know in the comments ⬇️
