What Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) does your dog do?
Here is my boy Warrior, doing what he does best at least three times a day!
Whilst he is loving life, it is important to know that many of the ADL’s that our dogs partake in, when performed repetitively, can cause repetitive strain injury, where microtrauma to the muscle is accrued consistently over time.
This will eventually lead to muscular dysfunction and pain, resulting in our dogs not being able to enjoy life as freely as they should.
ADL’s aren’t just the ‘fun’ activities that dogs do but also include:
🐾 Sleeping in a curved plastic bed
🐾 Walking on slippery floors within the home e.g. wooden or tiled flooring
🐾 Jumping in and out of the car
🐾 Incorrect feeding height
Warrior’s zoomies, as well as his habit of pulling on the harness during walks (especially when he spots squirrels, cats or quite frankly anything small and furry!) has resulted in areas of muscular injury/dysfunction, including hypertonicity, trigger points and myofascial pain, which we are currently addressing through Clinical Canine Massage.
Now all I need to do is work out how to make him stop being such a nutter 🤣

Beth had a busy day yesterday playing with her Lab friend so unfortunately she is experiencing some lameness today
Usually Beth spends her massages wriggling around in her bed but today she fell straight to sleep and snored very loudly all the way through, so she must have really been feeling the benefit 🥰
