Good afternoon, everyone.

With the warmer weather, the adders are starting to venture out. 🐍

Dan filmed this video just an hour ago in our shop car park. If you're visiting or walking in the area, please be mindful and stay vigilant. For safety, I strongly recommend keeping your dogs on a lead.

If you spot an adder, remember: stay calm and give it space. Adders don’t want to engage with us, and they only bite in self-defense. If you need to move one, gently stamp your feet to create vibrations, but it's best to leave it alone if possible and warn others nearby.

If your dog is bitten, you need to seek veterinary treatment quickly.

❌️Do not panic.
❌️Do not attempt to suck out the poison or tourniquet.
❌️Do not get your dog to run as this will increase their heart rate, causing the poison to spread.
✅️ Remain calm. If you can carry your dog, do so. If not, calmly get them to a vet as quickly as possible.

We know this may worry some of you, but we wanted you to be aware and prepared. Especially as we are all out and about with our dogs enjoying this lovely weather.

Over the past week I have personally become aware of a fantastic organisation called Doris Banham Dog Rescue. The work they do to give these dogs another chance is incredible and I’d really like to support their cause.

That’s why we are going to run a charity raffle 🎉We have THREE hampers up for grabs. A 20kg hamper, a 15kg hamper and a 10kg hamper. Best of all, you get to chose what goes inside.

All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is pick your number below and pay £2 for your ticket. Once all the numbers are taken we will draw the winning numbers. The Power of Good Food ✨

Meet , Melon & Spanner, two incredible rescues who have come such a long way since their adoption from Many Years. When they arrived, both were severely malnourished, and poor Melon suffered from painful skin conditions despite veterinary treatment for mange.

With patience, the right nutrition, and the dedication of their amazing owner, we transitioned them to a single-protein fresh diet (no supplements). Within just a week, we started seeing improvements. Now, four months later, their coats are healthier, they’ve gained weight, and their energy levels have soared—they’re finally acting like happy, playful Frenchies! ❤️

There’s still a journey ahead, especially for Spanner, who needs a little more support, but the transformation so far has been amazing.

Good morning on this beautiful day 🌞

🐕 Like me, I'm sure you are looking forward to lovely walks in the warmer weather, but with spring comes the worry - the little pests are come out of hiding. 🪳

Now is the perfect time to consider a more natural approach before the pest season is in full swing.

Traditional treatments can not only have an impact on our pets health, but the world around us too.

A University of Sussex study found that songbirds are being effected by more traditional treatments as they line their nests with animal fur. Samples contained a high amount of harmful pesticides like fipronil, imidacloprid, and permethrin. These pesticides were linked to high nest mortality, with eggs failing to hatch and chicks dying soon after birth, contributing to the decline of nearly half of UK bird species.

Unfortunately pesticides from pet treatments have also been detected in 99% of river samples, threatening aquatic life. Shockingly, just one flea treatment for a medium-sized dog contains enough pesticide to kill 60 million bees 🐝

Feeling sad this morning 💔 Please read to the end.

As many of you know we adopted a dog on Friday. Beautiful Mel that we renamed Luna.

We always knew there was a chance our dogs may not take to her but unfortunately it became apparent very quickly Bailey was not going to adjust to her at home. She was also a little too interested in Dizzy for our comfort, although absolutely no malice.

With heavy hearts we made the decision to let her go, so she can find a perfect home where she can be herself, not limited by our dogs. We know we only had her briefly and it may seem we didn't give it a chance. However as it wasn't her causing any issues, it wasn't about giving her time to adjust. Bailey was very unaccepting and it caused Luna to get quite anxious. That isn't fair and the longer it continued the more damage it could have done to her confidence. Not to mention Bailey was in constant distress, unless completely separated.

She is the most amazing puppy, a beautiful soul, smart, affectionate and playful. Loves people, including children (although manic zoomies might be a bit much for small ones) Gets on well with dogs. She is truly the perfect dog. We immediately fell in love with her and miss her greatly.

Morning everyone,

I’ve had a few chats recently about vaccinations, and I wanted to share some information. It seems that some of you are still getting annual DHP vaccinations, but both the vaccine manufacturers and WSAVA recommend every three years after the initial puppy/kitten series.

WSAVA states, “Vaccines should not be given needlessly. Core vaccines should not be given any more frequently than every three years after the 6- or 12-month booster injection following the puppy/kitten series, because the duration of immunity (DOI) is many years and may be up to the lifetime of the pet.”

If your vet continues to recommend annual vaccinations, we encourage you to share this information with them for further discussion. You’re also welcome to reach out to us if you have any questions.

Good morning all. Hope you had a lovely weekend ☀️ What did you get up to? We managed to enjoy a dry walk and even some sunshine 😊 Dizzy did great walking.. sounds silly but shes not keen. She's been diagnosed with luxating patella, likely due to her spinning so we need to get her walking in straight lines and build up her muscles. This was the only turn she did (she lost me) so we are really pleased 🐶 Any hydrotherapy recommendations gratefully received ❤️ I'll pop in an update on incoming stock later today.

Remember we are closed after today until 2nd January so make sure you pop in to top up 🎅

Not long to go now 🎅 COLLECTION CUT OFF Please can you place any collection orders by midnight tonight. Friday and Saturday are going to be very busy so we want to get all online orders packed and ready for you as soon as possible. We have more stock arriving today so should be plenty of options for you all. Paleo Ridge, Naked Dog, hopefully Betsy's. Cotswold arrived yesterday I just need to update stock for you. If you are still looking for gifts, we have toys, chews, treats and some Christmas biscuits left. Remember we are closed all next week so please make sure you get enough food to last. ⚠️ Loud shooting ⚠️ The shooting range is quite loud today. If your dogs have been effected by the fireworks, I suggest leaving them at home. Even if it doesn't normally bother them, we've found with ours they become extra sensitive. Bailey is doing well but I have his favorite treats 😊 We are at the end of Shaftesbury Road in the video, so it will be much louder at the shop.
