Sadly we still aren't in a position to deliver, but the lovely Jess at Sid & Lola natural pet shop is commencing deliveries in May. So for those of you further out, this may work really well for you 😊

Some can be refrozen but needs to be fed in one day due to the fact it's already semi thawed.

It's National Puppy Day ❤️🐶

🐶 Food Donations 🐶

A little plea for any spare pet food you might have hanging around at the back of a cupboard as your dog no longer (likes) eats it.

Donations will go to dogs in rescue like Dizzy was. The food helps keep rescue expenses down so money can be spent on helping them get back to full health and eventually finding forever homes ❤️

No donation too small, whatever you can spare would be greatly appreciated

I'll have a box at the shop for drop offs.

Yeast Issues 🐾🧀

If your dog suffers from yeast issues, you'll be familiar with that wotsit like smell, itching and distress it can cause our dogs. 🐶😔

You've probably tried so many things to help clear it up, but yeast is one of the hardest things to tackle and can feel like a never ending battle. I've been there with Dizzy.

I'm pleased to share, I've ordered a new topical product that is showing amazing results from Dogs First.

It will be available in a few days, in the shop and online through either www.comfortandnourish or www.willowspantry.co.uk

I'll be trying it on Dizzy the moment it arrives and will share our progress, I think this is going to make a huge difference in our ye**ty dogs lives 🤞❤️

We've had a busy week with LOTS of treats being delivered.

This week has been a quiet one and most stock is coming today.

Betsy's and Luna have been delivered, along with more Four leaf rover supplements, including Protect.
Paleo, Cotswold and Different Dog are due today.

We still have plenty of Dougies, Natural Instinct and Naturaw in stock.

Orders are in for The Dogs Butcher and Nurture them Naturally which will arrive next week.

Worldpay Update

With a little help from the technical department Worldpay have resolved the problem and will be correcting it from their side. Anyone who did have a reversed charge will have it debited again (unless you paid me again already) So we won't be out of pocket 🎉🎉

PLEASE READ

Unfortunately we have been made aware by a few customers that card transactions were reversed shortly after payment was taken. (Shop only)
From our side it looks like the transaction was completed successfully so we were unaware of the problem.

Since being bought to our attention, we have looked into it further and it appears several transactions were effected between December - January.
Most reversed approx 10min after the charge.

This has resulted in over £1000 being reversed 😞 As I'm sure you can appreciate this is not money we can afford to lose.

We have raised the issue with Worldpay and I am starting to reconcile with our sales records. We will hopefully be able to identify the majority and can get in touch with those effected but it's going to take some time.

If you would be so kind to check your records and let us know so we can process again, it will save us a lot of time and stress. [email protected]

New Product ❤️

I'm pleased to share I managed to get one of the first batches of the new Power Paste from Dogs First.

This product is really versatile and is great if you DIY or if you don't feed raw at all and want to add some fresh to your dogs kibble meal.

Limited quantity available at the moment in the shop. I'll pop them online later today. 😁

POWER PASTE IS HERE!!
We have a new product ready folks - it's called Power Paste!

I know, awesome name, but it really does what it says on the tin.

Power Paste is a vital complementary feed that makes DIY raw-feeding a far simpler process but ALSO serving as a borderline-vital nutritional topper for kibble feeders (hence it's available in both raw AND cooked forms, hopefully bringing a few vets over to the dark side).

The idea actually came to me as one of my stockists says she weeps when they leave her shop with a sack of Royal Canin! Now, if pet shops sell a bag dry, particularly high-carb stuff, the client really NEEDS to add in a dollop of this each meal!

Then, the more I thought about it, it's the product I always wished was in the fridge when making his food. It's everything I think is pretty important.

Power Paste is choc full of all the bits we wish we had to hand when making food for them ourselves but are a bit of a pain to source or put together. It contains ALL the organs (grass-fed beef liver, heart, kidney, spleen, pancreas), fresh Atlantic sardines, some lightly steamed local veg, a number of awesome, organic power additions such as organic hedgerow items, mushrooms, pre-soaked seeds and a teeth-cleaning seaweed addition (yes, no need for any other seaweed supplement with Power Paste), even some collagen, blood and hair!

All DIYers have to do now is, for example, buy some chicken thighs, maybe add some beef meat (mince from shops, heart, tripe, etc), and you're done! Or a whole turkey, and you're done! Or some cheap lamb bits (necks, ribs, hearts, tripe) from a supplier, and you're done!

Twice as nice at half the price of a comparable pre-made (though now you KNOW your dog is getting lots of the good stuff).

Power Paste will also be handy for making a good meal from leftovers (stored in ice cube trays), making treats or even home made dry-food yourself!!!

Power Paste is NOT a complete raw. It's a complimentary feed, a power addition for meals. It retails around £6 per tray (a touch more for the cooked version). Yep, it costs more than most complete raws per kilo that's because it's lead ingredients are beef organs (3-4 times pricier than most other meat ingredients used in raw dog food) and all the power additions. It's not the WHOLE part of the diet, the rest of the stuff is much cheaper, this is just the nutritionally super stuff.

We (Dogs First) will not be selling individual units of Power Paste direct from our site beyond offering whole boxes of it (25 units) to the public. For now, it is available in pet shops. So far stocking it in the UK is (live links to these shops available in the piece above...):

Today is a special day as it's Bally's 17th Birthday 🎂

Many of you will know Bobby's story (https://comfortandnourish.com/our-story/) and how he inspired me to set up the shop, but Bally has been such a huge part of our journey too.

Like many of you, at the beginning we didn't know anything about fresh feeding. We fed kibble, not very healthy treats and when I first met Dan, Bally was about 3 kilos overweight 🙈
Not long after that she started to show signs of arthritis and was only 7yrs old.

Bobby was the main catalyst for me starting to look more closely at pet food labels and nutrition but the change in Bally was phenomenal.

Once we moved to raw, her weight dropped off, mobility improved and so much more. I strongly believe the change in her diet and overall well-being approach, has lead to a longer life.
Obviously genetics play a huge role too and being a farm dog x, she has some strong ones 🐶

Seeing the change in our dogs is the reason I always advocate for fresh food first. Of course it isn't a cure all but we know for ourselves how much of a difference wholefood can do for our health. 🥩🥦🫐🥒🍓🫑🍉

I don't have all the answers but it is our passion to help you, (wherever you are in your journey) by sharing what we've learnt, so your dogs can also lead happy, healthy, long lives ❤️
