Hydrotherapy at Oak Ride Farm

What is hydrotherapy exactly – no it isn’t just washing dogs… it’s SO much more….

The numerous ‘magical’ properties of water can do incredible things for creaking joints and aching muscles – not to mention the ‘feel good factor’ after the treatment / session.

Some of these properties include:

Buoyancy – relieving the joints of weight and pressure which in turn enables an increased range of motion.

Hydrostatic pressure – eases pain as it reduces inflammation.

Venous return and water temperature – the warmth of the water (about 34degrees) increases circulation and as a result, toxins are flushed out and replaced with oxygen.

Resistance – helps improve muscle mass and stamina.

If you combine all these with an underwater treadmill, you can attain significant results in a safe and controlled manner.

Who is this for? Well, pretty much anyone; - large or small, young or old (so long as your vet gives us the go ahead.)
