ππ Meet Spud!
Spud came in for a lump check πΎ, which was found to be an abscess. It was checked with an ultrasound scan, and then drained to allow it to heal quicker. π
He was such a brave boy, and enjoyed lots of treats afterwards! π₯°π
π If you have any health concerns with your rats please contact the practice and book a consult with vet Abi, or if you have any behavioural or husbandry concerns then book a consult with nurse Meg π
𧑠It's Small Pet Rodent Awareness Week, so we will be focusing on posting about our rodent patients this week

With a heavy heart we said goodbye to one of our vets Will today π©΅ Today was his last day at the practice, as he is moving back to his original home of Cornwall. π π³
He's been at the practice for three years (although it feels like longer!). During his time here he's had a big impact on the team, and will be very missed. We know he will be very missed by many of you also β€οΈ πΆπ±π°π¦
π©· Good luck with your next venture Will! π©·
π± Milo π±
This playful boy is Milo, enjoying some toys whilst waiting to go home after his castrate procedure ππ₯°
π Meet Max! π
Doesn't he look rather dapper in his bow tie?! π
ππΆ Betty πΆπ
Betty came to see vet Abi recently with sore eyes π
It was found that she had a type of corneal ulcer on her eye called an indolent ulcer. This type of ulcer struggles to heal on their own, and they usually need a procedure to help them. The aim of this procedure is to remove the loose tissue around the ulcer, and change the surface of the cornea to allow healing.
Betty (as seen in the video π) had a diamond burr procedure at the practice to aid her ulcer to heal. Her eye was cleaned and had local anaesthestic applied before her procedure.
ππ As you can see she was an absolute super star! ππ
π±π Teddy ππ± This sleepy boy is Teddy, who came in last week for treatment of his injured paw πΎ
During his stay at the practice he fitted in a couple of naps and lots of fuss with the nurses π₯°π±
Such a sweet boy π₯°

πΉ Meet Reggie πΉ
Isn't he a handsome boy!
Reggie was in for a castrate with us last week, and he really enjoyed his post op syringe feed!
We always syringe feed our small mammals post op before they go home to ensure they are eating well after their anaesthetics. This is important for small mammals as they are at risk of low blood glucose, and the herbivores are also at risk of gut stasis.
π Ragnor π
This playful boy is Ragnor! Isn't he gorgeous! π€©
After his procedure with us he enjoyed a cuddle with vet Will, and then onto exploring the practice with the nurses π₯°
πΆ Marley πΆ
Meet Marley who came in for a procedure with us, here he is afterwards enjoying a fuss with our student nurse Ewa π₯°π€
We always strive to ensure our patients' stays with us are as stress free as possible, and we tailor our approach to the patient's independent needs. Whether that's attention and a cuddle like Marley π€, or space to snooze on their own after their procedure π΄
π Tommy π
This chilled out guy is Tommy, he came in for his matts to be removed by our nursing team.
He was an absolute superstar, and enjoyed a snooze and a fuss whilst having his dematt ππ
