We have switched our recycling bin labels to even more obvious indications of no waste in them due to the influx of poo waste mixing within the recycling bins.
As well as spreading the word that we are now LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS
How the volunteers will work
-apply by email , whatsapp , messenger
-please state you brief location and what time frames /days you can do

Once applied and a meeting arranged. Stations will be advertised and organised to start ! This will be very well advertised and all local tenants within the areas will have flyers about our organisation with notice given.

We need multiple volunteers across the board. These places include but not limited too :

Meet the gorgeous Cleo

Cleo is a Doberman with BIG emotions which leads to alot of frustration. Her owners have tried 6 other trainers and no one has understood Cleo. One trainer put a prong collar on her saying it’s the only way to deal with her outbursts. I will never forget mums face when I said we’d get her out of it. The look was pure fear as it had become her safety net even though she hated it but couldn’t see a way out. I was so thrilled when mum told me today after 2 sessions, THE PRONG HAS GONE! She had the biggest smile on her face. It made my week.

Cleo needed understanding and a different way of dealing with all of her emotions and frustration and needed someone to work with her , not against her!

I am so so proud of Cleo's owners. They have worked so hard and now reaping the benefits of her being calmer in the house and on walks and having different ways to deal with her when she struggles.

Please stay safe and prep as much as you can approaching firework season. Sending love to all the fur babies 🤞 everyone stays safe xx

Firework season is just around the corner and what used to be a one-off event on Bonfire Night now seems to go on for months with religious festivals, Christmas and New Year. Plus, fireworks are increasingly being used to celebrate events throughout the year.

With the loud noises, flashes of light and even the smell, it is not unusual for dogs to be scared of fireworks.

However, there are things you can do in the run up to firework season to help reduce the risk of anxiety.

Start Early

It is the sudden onset of firework season that makes many dogs react so dramatically. However, if your dog is scared of thunderstorms, it is likely that fireworks will have the same impact.

The best way to combat this is to start training early to allow your dog to slowly adapt to the upcoming season.

Desensitisation

Check out the numerous free soundtracks of fireworks online that you can play to desensitise your dog to the sounds. Try Dogs Trust, YouTube or even Alexa.

Begin by playing the firework sounds at a very low level when your dog is calm. Give them some tasty treats, a stuffed kong or chew at the same time. It is important to keep your dog below threshold so if they start panting, barking, whining, pacing or try to leave the room, turn it off and try again at a lower volume. Start with a few minutes every day.

Slowly increase the volume and length of time that you are playing the soundtrack. If your dog starts to show any signs of being worried, go back a step.

Even with all the right preparation in place, some dogs will still become anxious so it is important to ensure your dog feels safe and secure when the fireworks begin for real.

Quick tips:

• Check the times of local fireworks displays and do an earlier walk while it is still light - double check the fit of their collar and harness
• Don’t leave your dog alone at home or outside during fireworks
• Don’t be tempted to take your dog to a firework display
• Create a safe space for your dog well in advance – this could be their crate covered with blankets or a quiet area / room (away from windows preferably)
• Create a positive emotional response to the area by putting some familiar toys or chews in there
• Leave your dog in peace while in their safe space – unless they seek you out for comfort
• Muffle the sound of fireworks by playing the tv or radio on higher volume – try a white noise machine
• Close the curtains or blinds
• We’ve all heard stories about dogs that have run away during fireworks so ensure your house and garden are extra secure and keep windows, doors and gates closed and locked
• Check your dog’s ID and microchip information in case they do bolt – make sure details are up to date
• Consider putting a GPS tracking device on your dog
• Comfort and reassure your dog (and no you won’t be reinforcing their fear) but remember to stay calm and use a soothing tone
• Try doing some fun training, play tug or simple scentwork
• Give them snuffle or licky mats - sniffing, chewing and licking are self soothing behaviours for dogs which releases those feel good endorphins

If you are still worried about your dog, then don’t be afraid to talk to your vet about medication or consult someone specialising in behaviour modification.
