Middle Hattons Hounds Making Hounds Happy

21/01/2025

We can now disclose the information regarding the missing (presumed stolen) DDB cross girls who disappeared from their homes on Sunday 12th January.
Nala and Nova were let out into their own back garden before bed, around 10.30pm. The garden was secure with a bolt in place on the gate.
When their owner went to let them back in no more than a few mins later the gate was wide open and the dogs were gone.

There was not a single sighting of these girls despite family and friends searching the streets and fields for hours upon hours. None of our appeals to find them gave any real information.... they just vanished.

On Friday 17th January they were discovered by a member of the public in a builders bag in the canal. The RSPCA believe they were drowned! They had been there since at least Monday 13th.

Wings and Paws Rescue have a personal connection with these dogs. We knew them, we knew the family.
Their owner had come to us for help in 2020 when a neighbour was being made homeless and he needed somewhere for his beloved elderly dog Teagan to live. Teagan stayed with us until old age took her. She was volunteers Gemma & Alex's first foster for us.
In 2024 their owner came to us to ask for help again, this time for herself - she'd fallen on hard times due to tragic family circumstances.. She knew the girls needed neutering for their health and we were more than happy to help with the costs. Clare took them to the vets personally.
When one of them was taken ill - it was us they called and Clare carried the dog in her arms to the vet who saved her life.
To say we are heartbroken is an understatement - we are broken right now 💔

These dogs were were loved and so well cared for by their family. They were taken from their own back garden and they were then murdered.
Who does something like that?

We appeal to the public to come forward if you have any information on who took them and who did this. These girls and their family deserve justice.

Please hold your dogs close and give them a hug from us.
Please don't let your dogs out of your sight for a second, not even in your own garden - it's just not safe for them.

Rest in peace Nala and Nova 🌈💔

🪿Goose on the Loose!!🪿

Clare has spent the day ringing around everyone she could think of today to try to find a goosey friend for our Bobby as he's been so sad since losing his Brother Oscar.
No one had a female in need of a mate 💔

She then randomly gets a phone call - it's someone who she'd previously spoken to earlier in the day who was in disbelief... he'd just been called by a member of the public who'd cornered a young loose goose (with the help of a couple of police officers) that looks to have been dumped (not the first time in that location). They were looking for a rescue to take the goose on!!!

It was like it was meant to be!
So off Clare and her Brother go for a drive 50 mins away to collect goosey loosey!

It's only a small goose, quite young, so we're hoping she's a she! However, as it's so young, even if he's a he, we're hopeful our Bobby will take to him 🪿❤️ With this in mind we've name the Goose ''Bits'' 🤣 as we don't know what bits they have 🤣

They'll be kept separate for a few days, with their penthouse home meshed in two to allow them to meet safely and suss each other out! But fingers crossed there's a happy ending for our new duo - Bits and Bobs!

Of course, we'll keep you all updated.
Sometimes life has a way of coming together all at the right times!

Earlier today we sadly lost one of our Geese. Oscar (front of photo) passed away in the arms of our farm volunteer Matt and it was really very quick, unexpected but peaceful 💔

His Brother Bobby however is already really sad and struggling.
So we need to try to find him a new bff asap as Geese really don't do well living on their own.
Although Bobby & Oscar were both boys, they were Brothers and had always lived together - generally speaking boys don't get on well together so we're looking for a female or a pair of females to join Bobby at our farm.

If you have a female (or pair) and you'd like to give them a fantastic forever home with us and Bobby please drop us a message - Bobby really does need a friend!

Rest in peace Oscar, you will be missed very much by us all 🌈💔

Here we have just a little guy, toasty and content as he reflects on his day. 13/10 would try my best not to disturb him

This is Howard. He couldn't decide where to sit. Wound up in two places at once and may require some assistance. 13/10 (IG: theellenmack)
