£47.50 for a consultation at the vets!!!
I needed a repeat steroid prescription for my 15 year old chocolate lab, Poppy. The meds are £15.84 per month. They haven't seen her for 6 months so I had to take her in. I know the laws have changed recently but there should be exceptions.
It was traumatic and completely exhausting for a struggling elderly lady 😥 She's happy at home and is not ready yet to be pts. I'll know when that time comes. I'm so annoyed. . . . .
People don't like to say they can't afford it, no wonder some pets struggle. It's all about money, not the welfare of our pets 🐾

Hi guys, wondering if anyone can help . . . .
I know a 17 year old young lady who has mild cerebral palsy.
The sad thing, and the reason I need your help, is that she has no friends and no social life.
She goes to College, they can't offer any help and none of the students mix with her. Kids can be so cruel 😔
She has been going to 'Dance' for years but because she can't keep up with 'regular kids' aged 11 upwards, she's not welcome any longer. She'll be so upset when her Mom tells her she can't go anymore.
She really needs people and friends in her life.
If you are able to recommend clubs or activities for young adults with additional/different needs please let me know.

⚠️DOGS and CHEWING GUM⚠️

Sadly we have had a lot of calls this week where dogs have become unwell after ingesting sugar-free chewing gum.

Sugar-free gum often contains large amounts of an artificial sweetener called xylitol. Just one or two pieces may be enough to make a dog seriously ill.

The xylitol in chewing gum can cause a crash in blood sugar levels leading to neurological signs, and can also affect the liver.

If your dog has ingested sugar-free gum, prompt veterinary advice is essential. Owners should call us for advice on the Animal PoisonLine 01202 509000. For detailed treatment advice, vets should call our dedicated professional line on 0207 3055 055.

Mushrooms, mushrooms and more mushrooms! 🍄🍄

As autumn approaches we are taking lots of calls about ingestion of wild mushrooms. Fortunately most are of low toxicity but some can cause nasty gastrointestinal upset, neurological signs and liver disease .

Top tips if you think your pet has ingested a mushroom -
☎️ Seek prompt advice
📷 Take several pictures of the mushrooms where they are growing
🍄 If there are other similar mushrooms nearby, pick one close to the base , wrap it in kitchen paper and take it with you to the vet

🔎We work with expert mycologists to provide accurate identification of mushrooms to enable targeted treatment. It is not safe to rely on pictures/apps for identification purposes

Dear Mum and Dad,

Let me stay home. It's too hot for me to walk and run next to you. But because I am a loyal dog, I often go beyond my limits. So I walk and run beside you, standing still if I have to.

And feel my paws burn. I'm looking at you for a moment, but you do not understand. Because in a little over 5 minutes we're at the cool puddle, right? But those little 5 minutes
can be fatal to me. Because I sweat through my paws, and in this heat I just cannot get rid of the sweat. My whole body is boiling, but I keep going
And then I end up on the tarmac. In the heat and in the sun. With my tongue out of my mouth and my eyes flashing in the sun. My paws are burning, my tongue is dry and my head is pounding in the heat that my body cannot get rid of…

Instead, let me stay at home where I can enjoy the sun, with a large bowl of cool water, somewhere in the shade. And best of all like in a cool area with grass. Love Your dog.

If you can't walk barefoot then why expect your dog to do it?

Be wise, be thoughtful and be kind.
