🐝🐝Has your dog been stung by a bee or wasp? 🐝🐝

🐾 Remove a bee sting by scraping the edge of a bank card across the skin - avoid the venom sac
🐾 Neutralise a wasp sting with something mildly acidic (vinegar or lemon juice)
🐾 Neutralise a bee sting with something mildly alkaline (solution of bicarbonate of soda)
🐾 Use a cold compress to help with discomfort
🐾 Contact your vet if there is any facial swelling.

💔Such sad news.💔
I loved him as Lily Savage, his chat show with his dogs and For the love of dogs. All he wanted in life was to give love back to dogs and help the charities. Not for the fame and this showed through. Will be very much missed.💔💔💔

There are some popular household plants that are toxic to dogs and cats. As always, there is a higher chance of survival and better prognosis with prompt treatment after ingestion.

🌺Poinsettia🌺
The red petals are leaves and are toxic to dogs and cats if ingested in large quantities.

🆘Vomiting

😘Mistletoe😘
Sadly, the plant of love is a nasty pest that keeps its green colour by sucking nutrients out of trees. It is also highly toxic.

🆘In severe cases, cardiovascular collapse can lead to death

🌱Holly & Ivy🌱
Holly berries and ivy are also toxic.

Skin contact with ivy can also cause irritation including conjunctivitis and itchiness.

🌺Amaryllis🌺
They are one of the bestselling Christmas plants but their popularity matches their toxicity!
The stalks, flowers AND bulbs are all toxic as they contain phenanthridine alkaloids.

💐Lilies💐
These are very dangerous to cats even if just two or three leaves, or even just the water from the vase, are consumed.

If you think your pet may have eaten anything like this over Christmas, contact the practice for advice. It is beneficial for us to know the size/weight of your dog, how much they ate, what it was they ate and at what time.

Our best advice is to keep these plants well out of reach during this festive period.🐾
