Cavan Vets would just like to make a statement in light of the ongoing XL Bully Ban.
Our practice protocol is, and always has been, that we will not euthanise a healthy animal. Our staff work tirelessly to help and support not only owned pets but also strays who are in difficulty and to be asked to euthanise an animal unless absolutely necessary goes against all that we stand for.
We are happy to provide information and advice to any XL bully owner who requires it we just ask that we are not asked to euthanise as we will unfortunately have to refuse.
We also have had a few clients who are a bit distressed at the thought that vets are at the forefront of the XL Bully Ban and believe we will report them and have their dog put to sleep - this is absolutley not the case.
We will offer guidance on what steps you should take to protect your XL but by no means is it our job to police it. Our job is and always will be to provide the best possible care to your pets and keep their health and welfare as our main priority, all our staff are big advocates for the breed and will welcome them with open arms as we would with any other breed.
Our picture is of the handsome Hugo!! Who is fully exempt and following all the legal protocols to keep him safe.
