So over the past week we have been trying to get Ajax to ignore the large flock of sheep that moved in opposite his home. The clips have been posted and this is where we now are. No long training sessions, just desensitising him in the course of his daily walks. No corrections, no punishment, just replacing his interest in sheep with a little more focus on rabbit poo, sausage and his kong.

Over the last couple of days Ajax has lost interest in the sheep during daylight...so it's been ti.e to proof the behaviour in darkness. I don't just want him behaving in a particular context, so generalisation and proofing is essesntial.

I saw this recently. It appears that, in the US, there is now a legal judgment regarding the safety of ecollars.

In case you haven't seen, there's a proposed USD 1.9million settlement in a class action lawsuit in California about "gravely dangerous" shock collars. Amongst other things, the court filings say “In reality, Shock Collar Products are far from safe and harmless. In fact, the use of electric shocks is gravely dangerous to the pets’ physical and psychological well-being.” The class action is about different kinds of shock collars (bark-activated, barriers, fences) and Californians who purchased a shock collar between October 1st 2018 and October 31st 2022 are eligible for the settlement.
