We havebjust cut a few pads fresh from our opuntia robusta plants. These are a great treat for tortoise and ours all go crazy for them. All our plants are free of any nasties and have been grown here from mother plants. You can grow these yourself. Just leave pad on a sandy stone surface. They will self root. Then water one a week they will produce their own pad which you can either feed or plant or make more plants

One result of this is that there has been a huge increase in deaths in hibernation (brumation) due to freezing and also in fros...

Here are some pictures of our enclosures! ✨ The first three are our eastern Hermann tortoise setup, and the fourth is our western Hermann tortoise setup. All are thermostatically controlled by Evo connected 3's. We also use Thermal Zoo Pros with upgraded bulbs (because of the lamp height!). Most of our animals are still emerging from brumation, but we expect them out over the next few days!🐢☀️

As the season commences, we've implemented minor modifications to the Hermann's tortoise outdoor enclosure. While the rosemary and lavender plants were surviving, they weren't flourishing; therefore, we've relocated them to the greenhouse for recovery. Additionally, we've planted grasses propagated from existing stock last year, which should provide ample cover and microclimatic variations. A before-and-after photographic record has been documented.
