Can you help mums and their pups?
It's Puppy Time!
Did you catch our Live puppy cam earlier this month? We shared some cute footage of our puppies with their canine carers to help launch our Little Miracles Appeal.
We need your help to raise £50,000 for our new Maternity Unit which will give our new mums and their pups a safe and comfortable place to be until they are all ready to find new homes.
During the puppy cam we caught up with their canine carer to find out a bit more about the mum.

21st June_BDH_Little Miracle
Earlier this month, we launched our incredibly important Little Miracles appeal 🐾
Thank you so much to everyone who has already shown their support by donating and sharing our cause on social media and with friends!
The appeal has been created to help us to address the rising problem of pregnant dogs being abandoned in the West Midlands.
Birmingham Dogs Home has felt the impact of this significant rise in pregnant dogs, prompting the urgent need for us to create a dedicated "whelping unit" to provide safe birthing environments.
We're calling on our incredible supporters to help us in raising £50,000 for this essential new facility.
Learn more about how your donations will help our appeal by checking out our website - https://birminghamdogshome.org.uk/little-miracles-appeal/
Thank you for your support in giving a safe start for mums and their pups! 💚💜

A week today we will have a team of runners taking part in the Great Birmingham Run 10k and Half Marathon.
They do it for the dogs, dogs just like Ash who are getting overlooked at our centre and rely on our teams care to ensure they have a fulfilling life until they find a loving new home.
Every runner will be running for a dog in our care and every step will help raise funds for us to continue their care.
We thought we would share a video of our own member of staff, Rachel Frost, who is taking on the half marathon dressed as a Hot Dog 🌭 for Ash.
Will you be there cheering them on? Please give them some encouragement if you see them and support them in you can.
Good luck everyone!

April 1st_BDH Sponsor a Kennel
As we are all enjoying our Easter Bank Holiday, we just wanted to remind you how your amazing support enables our team to continue caring for dogs like Spot. 🌷
Spot came into our Wolverhampton Centre recently as a stray. She was limping on her front legs, had hair loss and her skin was extremely sore too. After a trip to the vets the X-rays showed a clear fracture to her front leg which sadly had to be amputated.
As well as lots of TLC, medicated baths and pain relief, Spot started to make progress and was soon hopping around her kennel and causing trouble!
Everyone who owns dogs knows that that is the point when you know your dogs is feeling better - when they start being cheeky again!
Spot has made a full recovery and is now loving life in her new home thanks to your ongoing support and donations towards her veterinary treatment. 💜💚
If you want to help us care for dogs like Spot then please consider sponsoring a kennel and donating monthly from as little as £4 a month. That £4 really does save lives.

This week we want to raise awareness around the common foreign bodies we see our patients eat and swallow, these can go on to cause a gut obstruction which can be quite serious and make your pet unwell.
Common symptoms include:
🐾 Vomiting
🐾 Diarrhoea
🐾 A painful tummy – yelping or growling when you touch their tummy or sitting in a “prayer position” with their front legs on the floor and their bum in the air
🐾 Constipation (not being able to poo)
🐾 Low energy (lethargy)
🐾 Less or no interest in food
🐾 Weight loss.
If you are worried that your pet may have ingested something please contact your vet immediately.
It’s time to celebrate our February #GotchaDay leavers of 2024! Always a special time and emotional time for our team to say goodbye but filled with so much joy that they have found their forever home. Thank you Ancol Pet Products for your continued support in our charity and helping to provide the care our dogs need to find them these beautiful people who adopt them. 💚🐾
*This video contains footage that some people may find distressing *. This is the reason why your support is vital to the homeless dogs in our care. In just 2 weeks we have seen 3 dogs dumped or thrown over the fence at our Wolverhampton centre, all on freezing cold nights with no coats, no water and no alarm sounded. This dog was one of those who was dumped on Friday evening. Thankfully we have an amazingly dedicated team who are on site and CCTV alerted them to all cases. This poor boy was so scared he didn’t know what to do but hide under a car, freezing, full of matted fur and extremely dirty. He didn’t know we were trying to help and was showing his teeth to protect himself. Your donations enable us to train our team to deal with these situations, they put themselves in these sometimes dangerous situations to help dogs just like this beautiful boy. When he eventually understood that we were there to help you can see him relax, trust and respects our teams effort to make him feel safe and loved. He is still only 2 days in after this scary ordeal, he will still hold the mental scares of who did this to him but we are there to give him all the support needed to enable him to get better, trust again and find a loving home when he is ready. And do you know what can help us continue our work? Just £4 a month to sponsor his kennel and those of his friends which keeps our team trained to help give the emotional support needed. If you can help him please follow the link in our bio and story today and let’s change lives together. We will keep you updated on this beautiful boys journey with us. He still has a long way to go 💚🐾
