Hey 👋

As you may or may not know I’ve been quite poorly recently, but I’ve spent the last few days in hospital and we are closer to making me feel better. I have some answers now why I’ve been feeling so crap over the last 18 months. I know I haven’t been so active on the horses, but I really want to be. It’s my happy place. I just find it so hard with being so tired and sick all the time. But I’m really hoping now we can get it all under control and start 2025 off on Rica & Rio ♥️🥰

Here’s a picture of today. I swear Rio knows when I’m not feeling great.. he just gives me kisses and pulls me into him 🥰

There’s always been a “thing” with me and mum and chestnut mares! Or geldings! 😂..

Mum with one of her old showjumpers “meldie may” - mum competed her up to 125’s. & me as a tiny person who looks exceptionally like Harriet!! 😍♥️

Advanced event mares Bling and Hester – both ridden by Laura Collett – have taken the top two spots in the 2024 Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain's mare gradings.

Bling (pictured, left), owned and bred by Yvonne Ferguson, was the top-graded mare, while Hester (pictured, right), who is owned by her breeder Lucy Nelson, was the second-highest.

Lordships Parc Royal, a half-sister to Lordships Graffalo and bred by Penny Wallace, took third.

Hester's connections have even more to celebrate, as the mare's offspring FLS Wi******er (by Future Guilty Pleasure), bred by Mrs Nelson, was named the highest-placed foal. Mrs Nelson also bred the second-highest placed foal, Fusilier II, who is by Churchill III and out of Cara Admira.

As you know, mum won’t over feed any of our horses. She just feeds them ad-lib hay, they are out more than they are in. And she literally just feeds coolstance copra, with supplements if needed. The babies are out 24/7 with nanny Sovs. And they get two coolstance meals a day with ad-lib hay too. We find it a great feed source to get more water into them when it’s frosty! Or cold! X

❄Frosty mornings might be pretty, but they could cause problems for your horse or pony ❄️☀️

Frosty mornings and bright, sunny days can cause sugars to accumulate in the grass. The grass uses photosynthesis to create the sugar and then over night use this to grow. The problem arises when the conditions aren’t right for the grass to continue growing, resulting in storing of the sugar.

It’s when these sugars are stored up in the grass that your horse or pony is at a greater risk of a laminitis flair up.

If your horse or pony is prone to laminitis, you might want to consider reducing turnout during times when the weather stays below 5 degrees (meaning grass growth is limited) and we have frosty, sunny days.

Hay is a great alternative to keep your horse’s fibre intake up, plus for those that need to maintain condition but don’t want to higher percentage of sugars and starch through hard feed, our CoolStance Copra is perfect.

Absolutely LOVEEE the quality of Rio’s new hunting boots.

He’s got the Air-Tech Double Locking Brushing Boots from Premier Equine International Ltd which have incredible features to encourage airflow and to keep joints and tendons cool. The ventilation allows heat build up to escape and cold air to pass through! They also have shockproof material and then they are covered by carbon microfibre leather for extra protection to his likkle leggys! He also had to have the over reach booties to match.

Also had to treat myself to some new spurs and straps 😅😍
