“Yesterday I witnessed something that took my breath away. I heard a sound at the window of the cottage. When I looked, a cedar waxwing had hit the window and fallen to the deck. It’s mate stood beside it. It was clear that the fallen bird was dead. I turned away for a moment and when I looked again, it’s mate had hopped over. It lay down beside its partner, their heads touching. It closed its eyes and passed over to Spirit with its mate. The sadness and beauty of the moment was such a privilege to witness. If anyone has ever doubted that animals feel emotion and love, this moment was absolute proof of both. Nature truly has much to teach us.”

‼️ Extendable dog lead ‼️

This morning, driving down the country lane with not much of a pedestrian pass, a lady was walking with a corgi on an extendable lead, the dog noticed something the other side of the road and suddenly darted for the other side, I slammed on my brakes and for a moment I didn’t know if he/she was alive. I couldn’t see the dog. They must’ve been inches away from my front wheel. His owner was pulling the extendable lead back inch by inch and once she had the dog in sight back on the path and on a shorter line, she then gesture a sorry to me and carried on walking, as I sat in the car for a moment, rather shocked at what just happened.
I just thought I’d spread a bit of awareness.

I fully understand why people use extendable leads. It gives your dog a lot more freedom and more room to Rome, but I urge you to only allow this in open spaces like parks and fields. 
This is just a reminder to all owners that when walking near a road, please keep your dog on a short leash. That little Doggo nearly lost his life today, and it would’ve absolutely destroyed me as an animal lover. 🖤
